Those who do not return for the sake of obtaining samadhi, show the appearance of falling from the three higher samadhis, and are later born in the realm of Brahma, and thereafter show the appearance of attaining Buddhahood in the Akanistha heaven there. As mentioned before, from the realm of Brahma, they are born in one of the lowest three of the Pure Abodes, and thereafter show the appearance of attaining Buddhahood in the Akanistha heaven based there. Also, as mentioned before, they are born in sequence from the realm of Brahma to the Akanistha heaven, and show the appearance of attaining Buddhahood in that basis. Those who reach the end of existence, those who do not return for the sake of obtaining the reality of samadhi, are born in sequence between the form realm and the formless realm, and show the appearance of attaining Buddhahood in various Buddha-fields. The characteristic of the arising and destruction of form, what is that? Without taking birth in the form body, they show the appearance of being born in the formless realm, and show the appearance of attaining Buddhahood in various Buddha-fields. The meaning expressed by these two is not contradictory in meaning, because if they are practitioners of the peak of existence, then they are pervasive in being free from attachment to form. If we distinguish between the two, they are the seeing of the Dharma and the realization of the body. The characteristic of the two is that for the sake of the meaning expressed, those who do not return show the appearance of attaining Buddhahood in that body basis. What is that? As they wish, they enter into the ultimate of the nine successive abidings. The characteristic of entering into Arhatship is that for the sake of the meaning expressed, they abide in the entrance (path) of Arhatship. Also, because they have already abandoned attachment, if they are Arhats who have entered into the fruit of non-return, then they establish it at the time when they abandon the latent tendencies of the ninth affliction of the peak of existence. If they have not already abandoned attachment, then it is at the time when they abide in the peak application without interruption. The characteristic of the solitary realizer in the meaning expressed is that in a Buddha-field where Buddhas and Hearers do not abide, they show the appearance of self-enlightenment. The third is dispelling doubts, some say: It is unreasonable for Bodhisattvas to show the appearance of being born in the formless realm, because the Compendium says: "The qualities of Bodhi, the perfections, will arise in decline and change, those who are born in the formless realm should not seek this meaning." So, is there no fault? It is said that there is no fault because it is a manifestation. Because Bodhisattvas practice formless concentration, they have the ability to go there. After going there, they practice benefiting others, and with that

This is to explain the benefit of sentient beings without remainder. The sutra says: Those who have attained meditative absorption and formless absorption will be born from the sphere of infinite space to the peak of existence. Also, in the Ratnagotravibhāga, it is said: In order to see things as they truly are, even though one has transcended birth and so on, being of the nature of compassion, one shows birth, aging, sickness, and death. Furthermore, some may wonder whether these Bodhisattvas are substantially existent individuals or nominally designated individuals. Some say they are substantially existent individuals, because in the Sutra of the Wheel of Non-Regression, the stream-enterer of the Mahayana tradition and so on are described as substantial. If you say so, that is not correct, because it is said in the sutra, please tell me, relying on what intention are the fruits of stream-entry and so on explained? Therefore, it is said to have an intention. They are nominally designated individuals, and the necessity of designating them there is that, because it explains entering the Mahayana path and so on, it is said to be a method of guiding those of the Hinayana to enter with faith. Fourth, regarding the two, eyes and clairvoyance, first, the five eyes are explained. The sutra says: Wanting to obtain and train in the five eyes. In such cases, for the five eyes, there are three: cause, essence, and result. First, there are two types of causes: common causes and individual causes. First, there are two types: the general cause of just eyes and the cause of the eyes of the Mahayana. The first is: one must rely on the actual mind of meditation, because clairvoyance is said to rely on the actual mind of meditation, and the person who obtains it must cultivate the five eyes. The second is: one must rely on the six perfections, the sutra says: Wanting to obtain and train in the five eyes, one should also train in the six perfections. The second is: the cause of the five eyes, in order, is the fully ripened result of the karma of offering lamps and so on in previous lives, the physical sense faculty trained by meditation, and the physical sense faculty arising from the power of both meditations, cultivating single-pointedly in the samadhi of the path-enterer and the ordinary being, and in the subsequent attainment, ascertaining as many as there are through hearing and thinking, and in the path of learning, accumulating vast amounts of the two accumulations. Second, there are five: essence, classification, individual characteristics, definite number, and boundaries. The first is:
