It has been explained. There are two abodes: the one with seven existences and the one that is born from lineage to lineage. The first is: abiding in the fruition, if at that time not even one of the cultivational abandonments has been abandoned, then one will be born between seven existences, and finally the path of seeing will arise, and from then on, the state of an Arhat will be attained. Not all are seven existences, but if one lingers like a dullard, then it is seven existences. Thus, it is also said in the Treasury of Knowledge: "Abiding in the fruition, not abandoning cultivation, if one lingers, it becomes seven existences.". The Vaibhashikas believe that there are seven existences of gods and humans and seven intermediate states, taking between twenty-eight, but because they belong to one set of seven, it is seven existences, like a tree with seven leaves. This is their view. The second is: abandonment, at the time of the path of seeing, abandoning the three great categories of cultivational abandonment of the desire realm or the great categories of the middle category, realization, obtaining the three small categories of uncontaminated faculties of the path of cultivation or the small categories of the middle category, will arise. If three afflictions are abandoned, then three are taken. If four are abandoned, then two are taken. Among these two: the birth from the lineage of gods to the lineage, if the path of seeing is obtained on the basis of a desire realm god, then one will be born twice or three times among the desire realm gods. The second is the birth from the lineage of humans to the lineage, if the path of seeing is obtained on the basis of a human body, then one will be born twice or three times in the human realm, and then extinguish suffering in that continent or another continent. As it is said in the Treasury of Knowledge: "Liberated from three or four categories, two or three births from lineage.". It is impossible for them to be born in the higher realms, because they are Shravaka Arya who have completed their lifespan in the desire realm. It is impossible for them to be born in the higher realms, to degenerate from obtaining the fruition, and for the faculties to change from dull to sharp. As it is said in the Treasury of Knowledge: "The Arya who has completed his lifespan in the desire realm, will not go to another realm, it is certain. For him and those born in the higher realms, degeneration and change of faculties are not reasonable.". Secondly, there are two abodes for entering the non-returner. The first is: having abandoned the five categories of cultivational abandonment of the desire realm, tending towards abandoning the sixth category. As it is said in the Treasury of Knowledge: "One who has destroyed up to five categories, is one who has entered the second.". The second is: between the sixth and eighth categories. Among them, there are two: abiding in the fruition and one with special characteristics. The first is: having abandoned six afflictions in that body, being born once in the realm of the gods, and then coming to the human realm once, because there is no other similar kind, it is a single return.

Furthermore, the Treasury states: "When the sixth category is exhausted, that is the once-returner." The second is: abiding in the second fruition, abandoning that itself, in that life, abandoning seven or eight afflictions, realizing seven or eight uncontaminated faculties, taking one birth and attaining nirvana or non-return, that is, nirvana is interrupted by one life. The fruition of non-return is interrupted by one affliction, therefore it is interrupted by one, as the Treasury states: "Abandoning eight and seven faults, one life, one interruption, and entering the third is also like that." The third has two abodes of entering. The first is: abandoning seven or eight afflictions of desire, applying to abandon the ninth. The second is all from the exhaustion of the ninth affliction of desire until the exhaustion of the eight afflictions of the peak of existence. There are four of these: in that life of attaining non-return, if the afflictions of form are not abandoned, then one approaches form; even if they are abandoned, if the afflictions of formlessness are not abandoned, then one approaches formlessness. One who exhausts all outflows, attains peace in this life, and realizes cessation with the body. The first has three: one who has only the karma of manifest accomplishment, one who has the karma of experiencing after birth, and one who has the karma of experiencing in other instances. The first is: based on the non-returner who has not abandoned the afflictions of form, with sharp faculties and small afflictions, abandoning the connection that arises in form, not abandoning the connection of manifest accomplishment, that itself, after the intermediate state of form is manifestly accomplished, cultivates the uncontaminated path and attains the arhat, that is, with the three great, medium, and small faculties, passing away in the upper, middle, and lower periods of the intermediate state, with three examples, the three of passing away quickly, not quickly, and after a long time. The second is: from the faculties, all afflictions become medium, taking one birth in the form realm and passing away, with three mediums, immediately after being born in form, passing away with remainder, and attaining in middle age relying on effort, passing away with manifest effort, and attaining in old age without needing effort, passing away without effort, the three. The third is:
