is the form. Non-perception and non-non-perception are meditated upon as being peaceful, and the rest is the same as before. Secondly, what is commonly explained is: Thus, the substance of the actual absorption has eight aspects, seven aspects have three forms, namely, the taste of experience and association, as well as purity, and the eighth without outflows has two forms, namely, the taste of experience associated with attachment. The virtue of worldly people is that purity is experienced by it. The outflowless is beyond the world. That is to say, there are eight types of substances for the actual absorption, namely, the absorptions of the four meditations and the four formless realms. The seven absorptions excluding the peak of existence have three forms, namely, the taste of experience and association, as well as the pure one, because there are outflowless absorptions. The eighth absorption of the peak of existence has two forms, namely, the taste of experience associated and the pure one. The nature of the pure one is the absorption included in the virtue of worldly people. These virtues are the taste of experience and association, because they are experienced based on the substance of absorption. The nature of the outflowless absorption is included in what is beyond the world. Thirdly, the specific explanation of the limbs of meditation includes four aspects: classification, collection, how the limbs with afflictions are possessed, and incidental occurrences. The first is: The first has five: investigation and analysis, joy and happiness, and concentration. The second has four limbs: intense purity and joy, etc. The third has five: equanimity, mindfulness and awareness, happiness and abiding. The last has four: mindfulness, equanimity, neither happiness nor suffering, and concentration. That is to say, the first meditation has five limbs: the limb of counteracting investigation and analysis, the limbs of joy and happiness as benefits, and the limb of concentration as abiding. The second meditation has four limbs: the limb of inner purity as a remedy, the limbs of joy and so on as benefits of happiness, and the limb of single-pointedness of mind as abiding. The third meditation has five limbs: the limb of mindfulness and awareness as a remedy, the limbs of equanimity and happiness as benefits, and the limb of concentration as abiding. At the end of meditation, the fourth has four limbs: the limb of mindfulness and equanimity as a remedy, neither happiness nor suffering.

These are the limbs of equanimity's benefit, the limbs of the abiding place of samadhi, etc. Secondly: The substance is eleven, the first is: extreme tranquility is bliss, extreme joy is faith, because of the two scriptures, hence joy and mental ease. It means that the limbs of dhyana are summarized into eleven substances, namely the five limbs of the first dhyana, extreme joy in the second, equanimity, mindfulness, clear comprehension, and bliss in the third, and equanimity etc. in the fourth. Thus it is certain that the first two dhyanas are said to be bliss because of extreme tranquility. In the second dhyana, there is extreme joy, the mindfulness, clear comprehension, and equanimity in the third are not summarized into three, because that is the faith of trust that necessarily arises from dhyana. The bliss of the third dhyana is not mental ease, because it is not established as such by the two scriptures of 《Distinction》 and 《Prajna Sutra》. Thirdly: Afflicted ones have joy and bliss, extreme joy and clear comprehension, mindfulness, equanimity and mindfulness are not pure, some have extreme tranquility and equanimity. It means that the afflicted ones of the first dhyana have joy and bliss, extreme joy, and no clear comprehension and mindfulness, because they are accompanied by afflictions. Afflicted ones do not have equanimity and right mindfulness, because they are accompanied by the defilement of afflictions. Some of the first two dhyanas do not have extreme tranquility, and the latter two do not have completely pure equanimity, because they are the place of virtue. Fourthly, it is said incidentally that the reason why the fourth dhyana is immovable is the way in which the feeling is possessed in the dhyana obtained by the production of the fruit. In the second dhyana, there are three ways in which the lower mind manifests. The first is: Because of being liberated from the eight faults, the fourth dhyana is immovable. Conceptualization and analysis, as well as pure breath, pleasure, etc. are the four. It means that the fourth dhyana is called immovable because it is liberated from the eight faults. The eight are: conceptualization, analysis, exhalation, inhalation, pleasure, pain, mental ease, and displeasure, etc. The second is: In the dhyana of birth, there are mental ease, bliss, and equanimity, equanimity, mental ease, bliss, and equanimity, equanimity, and feeling. It means that it exists on the basis of equipoise
