being crooked, having a large belly, having short arms and shins, being hairy, having uneven hands and feet, having thick joints, and having a foul odor emanating from the mouth and body. As it is said, most people think so. Some scholars, such as Maitreya, in the "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way," say, "The aggregates are the nature of suffering, and the nature of the elements (Sanskrit: dhātu) is like a poisonous snake." If combined with this, the eighteen elements seem to be the basis for designation at this time. Although the scripture proves that there are eighteen faults in Indian women, it is difficult to apply this scripture here. They explain it this way. The name "Victorious One" refers to twenty-four names. The wise ones believe that the "Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra" says, "There are twenty-four Buddhas." It is explained as twenty-four natures. Some say, "It is not necessarily like the 'Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra,' because it also appears in the calculations of outsiders (non-Buddhists), so it is considered a place to be investigated." Calling twenty-five "Thatness" is because the Sāṃkhya school believes that there are twenty-five "Thatness." As stated in the self-commentary "White Lotus" of the "Wish-Fulfilling Treasury": "The chief, the great, ego, the eleven faculties, the five tanmātras, the five elements, and puruṣa." The stars are the twenty-seven constellations, and the wheel is also the wheel of constellations. These two are symbols of twenty-seven. Teeth are the teeth of a person, and there are thirty-two teeth on the edges of the upper and lower jaws, hence the name. "Twice-born" is also the name for teeth in this context, because they grow twice, first and later. These two are symbols referring to thirty-two. These are what is said in two verses from the "Compendium of Sūtras," such as "The nature of the moon is one," and some currently well-known symbols have been added. Among them, for the meanings of many numbers such as time and direction, in order not to cause confusion, it is best to combine them only with the most well-known meanings and leave the others aside. These are the names of calculating numbers. Second, there are ten terms and names for the years and so on to be calculated: year, month, beginning of the year, day, planet, constellation, house, yoga, action, and house lord. First, after explaining the names of numbers, then promising to explain the terms for the year.

Yes. That is to say, the duration of the sun's complete stay in each constellation, dividing thirty days into one part, is called a constellation day. Thirty constellation days make a month, and twelve months make a year. If calculated according to the waxing and waning of each month, there are twenty-four fortnights. Adding the sun's southward and northward movements, as well as the sun's own movement driving the rotation of the stars, and the completion of cycles such as the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter, or six seasons, three seasons, etc., it is given the name "one year." As stated in the Glorious Tantra: "Fortnights and all months, and seasons and four seasons, and fire time and two movements. The king's year is all." Its commentary states: "Twenty-four fortnights, and all months, that is, twelve months, six seasons, four seasons, fire time, that is, three seasons, and two movements. The so-called king's year is all, it should be understood as the classification of all years." Furthermore, in the Great Perfection Tantra, 'Transcending Mind': "Thirty nights are also one month. Like this, twelve completions are considered one year. Seven hundred days and nights, plus twenty completions, are considered three hundred and sixty nights. When these are all complete, it is one year." The Root Tantra of Manjushri states: "Fifteen days and nights are a fortnight, two fortnights are called a month. Therefore, twelve months are proclaimed as one year." The Vajra Dakini states: "The two movements of the sun (going and returning) are called one year." Therefore, since the year is determined based on the sun, the beginning of the year also starts from when the sun appears. So, what is the name of the very first year? It is known as "Rabjung," and it is said that it was named that way in the Vedas before Brahma. As the system says, the upper commentary of the Chakrasamvara Root Tantra, written by Vajrapani, also says this: "Rabjung, Namjung, white," etc. Only these commentary words are written here. So, is the Rabjung year mentioned here the same or different from the Rabjung mentioned in the tantra commentary that mixes past years? The great scholars and accomplished masters of the Land of Snows consider them to be different.
