Especially dispatched to report the situation to the Omniscient One, (the messenger) presented an extremely joyful decree, along with offerings of gold and five-colored khatas. Soon, according to the summons decree from above, (the messenger) traveled by boat to the great Potala Palace. Urged by the emperor's decree, the treasure scrolls were transcribed into copies by Jamyang Tenzin, the secretary of the new residence, who served as the scribe. Then, on an auspicious day in December, to the great Fifth Dalai Lama and Miwang Chökyi Gyalpo (Dharma King) together, he offered the empowerment of the new treasure wrathful red (Padmasambhava), the blessings of Vajrasattva, and the entrustment of the treasure scrolls. He also presented Nyang's hand staff, an exquisite Hor-style teacup, a silver mandala adorned with thirty-seven taels of gold, matching sets of fine silk inner and outer garments, and other abundant offerings. He was encouraged by a very pleased decree. The next day, he presented the scriptures and received the essential points of the instructions day by day, so that all the auspicious doors of interdependence were smoothly and perfectly arranged, which was indeed a good omen. Then, starting from the fifth day of the first month of the Fire Snake year (1677), he stayed in strict retreat in the great Potala Palace, deeply contemplating the profound meaning of the generation and completion stages of Amitayus. At the beginning of April, in a vision of clear light, he seemed to have arrived at a cave facing southeast, which he thought was Maratika. He thought: This is the essence of the place where immortality is attained, so a long life practice must be performed. So he arranged the substances for long life. As he was about to perform a long life ritual of the new treasure, a young and handsome son of the gods, holding a beautiful crystal vase filled with white and yellow nectar, came to the door and said: This is the nectar of the gods. Drink more of it yourself, and give each of your companions a drop. Although it is difficult to digest, once digested, the life of the gods also comes from this. In particular, this is the remaining enjoyment of the goddess Lakshminkara. Having said this, he gave (the nectar). (I) thought: It is difficult to obtain the nectar of the gods in the human realm. Even if one drinks this impossible thing, it will not be beneficial, and there is no certainty that it will not be harmful. With hesitation, I took a handful and drank it, and it tasted like milk and sugar.

Even the taste of decay reveals an indescribable sight. Merely reaching the mouth, it purifies all the gross physical clinging, and in the belly of the body that appears as clear emptiness without grasping, the immortal nectar congeals like mercury, appearing grayish-white. At that time, it was thought: This place is particularly extraordinary, and with the power of this nectar, it may be possible to achieve the immutable rainbow body of Vajra. If that is achieved, then it is necessary to be able to transform various miraculous displays at will. How can this be achieved? With such a desire surging in the heart, because transforming and manifesting at will is not difficult, it was felt to be amazing. It was thought that it should also be given to the companions, and also poured into this longevity accomplishment vase. Because doubt had arisen earlier, a displeased expression was made, pretending not to give it. After repeated requests, about a handful was poured into the vase, and each of the companions was given about the size of a barley grain. Some could swallow it, while others said they could not digest it and vomited. Looking into the vase, in the center of the vase water, like mercury poured in, it was not mixed, but existed in a round form. There it was thought: Compared to transforming human nectar into wisdom nectar, this nectar of the gods seems more amazing. When the ultimate of power was achieved, or it was thought, like putting a red-hot stone into water, boiling steam suddenly burst out from the vase, and in the center of the steam, there was a mustard-seed-sized body of Amitayus, clear and bright. When the steam disappeared, the deity also disappeared. Looking into the vase, the vase water was thicker and more viscous than before, and the color appeared like red lead oxide. That son of the gods, holding that vase, sat on the left side of the cave. There, in a dark vision like the shadow of the earth, marked by the light of lamps and the sound of clamor, finally, beings with the form of Dakini human women carried a palanquin and invited him to the west. In the endless dark charnel ground, where Guru Padmasambhava previously practiced asceticism, and where black practitioners and others now practice, in the center of the great plain, in the center of the rocky hills and dense forests, in the center of the boundless terrifying charnel ground, under five or six trees like Tang trees, about five or six thatched huts were erected, and inside those houses...
