Without making selections based on biased views, and without merely remaining at a superficial level in his listening, he diligently engaged in drawing definitive understanding through the discriminating and analytical contemplation born of thought. In short, considering the rise and fall of the teachings, many doctrines had declined in previous times, but now he held the great aspiration to acquire all that exists, putting it into practice. His listening was extensive and reliable, and he thoroughly examined each of the diverse perspectives without mixing them, thus resolving the additions and subtractions of hearing and thinking. He also practiced and applied the teachings he understood through the means of acceptance and rejection, so that hearing, thinking, and meditation were accomplished on a single seat. Not content with just a partial understanding, he truly abided in the excellent Dharma, becoming an unsurpassed object of praise. As it is said in the Abhidharma of the Excellent Dharma: "How do dharmas abide in Dharma? Not by relying on hearing and thinking alone, nor by solely relying on the practice of meditation; but by relying on both and abiding in both, one abides in Dharma." As extensively explained, through practice, he saw the meaning of the way things truly are, and he clearly and without confusion grasped all the dharmas of suchness, thus gaining mastery over the kingdom of Dharma. How the one with good karmic connections received the blessing of profound treasures and how he integrated practice into his mind. Third, how the one with good karmic connections received the blessing of profound treasures and how he integrated practice into his mind: From a young age, he possessed a strong mind of renunciation and immeasurable great compassion, desiring to save all unbiased beings. He also had an unbearable devotion that did not differentiate between the holy guru and the yidam deity. Urged by these qualities, even during the intervals of listening and contemplation, he either accompanied his father, the great Vajradhara, or alone received empowerments and instructions, and analyzed the subtle points of profound meaning. Apart from these occasions, he mostly engaged in strict retreat, and his father...

After his passing, he observed retreats in the Zimchil Od Sal Tse and the Zimchung Samten Phuk, lasting for either two months or a single month at a time. Apart from meal times, there were no fixed breaks, and he single-mindedly engaged in the recitation of the deity of single union and the maintenance of the state. During those times, it seems that he occasionally spoke of various wondrous signs and visions, like scattered stars, but it appears that they were not recorded in a way that those interested could remember them. When he was seventeen years old, on the evening of the tenth day of the ninth month of the Water Tiger year (1602), while residing in the Darling Zimchung Samten Phuk, he had a dream. In a delightful temple in Samye Chimpu, many Tibetan and Chinese vidyadharas and siddhas were seated in rows, performing a tsok offering. Around them, many beautifully adorned women were dancing and singing. He himself was seated at the lower end of the rows, watching with interest. At the head of the rows was a yogi who seemed to be the tertön Dorje Lingpa, with a topknot of hair and a radiant face. In front of him was a reddish-brown wooden vase, like sandalwood, with a tilted opening, filled with essence. The yogi used a kapala bowl, white on the outside and red on the inside, adorned with golden dharma wheels and the letter Harinisa (梵文天城体:हरिनिस,梵文罗马拟音:harinisa,汉语字面意思:Harinisa), wiping it with a red silk cloth and carefully filling it. A beautiful woman poured a white liquid, which seemed to be rice wine, from the previous vase, radiating light and emitting a whooshing sound. Another woman brought a large rhinoceros horn bowl filled with various kinds of food. The yogis, in order, each took a bite of the food and a sip from the kapala bowl, but the contents of the bowls did not diminish, remaining as they were. Then, some was offered to him as well, and as he tasted it slightly, the wisdom of bliss and emptiness blazed uncontrollably. Finally, he thought to possess it as his own white cloth vessel. At that moment, the previous yogi handed him a small reddish-yellow paper scroll, saying it was a protective amulet for the hat of a spiritual friend monk.
