He took ordination and full ordination from Yang Lama Konchok Chophel. From a young age, while residing in the monastery, he was known as a unique disciplinarian because he was not tainted by any faults, whether prescribed or natural, even those that were about to occur due to circumstances. He went to Rawa and Loseling, among other places, and expertly studied the philosophical treatises. He listened to all the scriptures and instructions from many spiritual friends, including the Fifth Dalai Lama and his own Khenpo Tri Rinpoche, and kept them in his heart.
