He also made it more prosperous. Milk could be squeezed from cows drawn on pictures, and they could pass through walls and other obstacles without hindrance. Many wonderful signs appeared. He defeated many heretical debaters, brought most Brahmins and householders into the Buddhist fold, and established many large monasteries. In the end, he believed that the highest achievement could be attained through the mantra path. According to Tibetan historical records, he lived for three hundred years. Master Chandragomin Master Chandragomin, a Pandit who had seen the face of Avalokiteśvara, engaged in debate with a teacher of the heretical Cārvāka school. Although he refuted their theory, because reason is measured by one's own thoughts, whoever's thoughts prevail wins. They said, "Because there is no obvious evidence of past and future lives, we do not believe." Then, they asked the king and others to be witnesses, saying, "I will be reborn, so let there be a mark on my forehead." Then, he made a cinnabar mark on his forehead, and the mark seeped into the flesh. He put a pearl in his mouth and died immediately. The king put his body in a copper double-layered container and sealed it. As he had promised to be reborn as the son of the royal Pandit Viśiṣasaga, he was reborn and a boy with various characteristics was born, with a cinnabar mark on his forehead and a pearl in his mouth. The king and others looked at the previous corpse and found that the cinnabar mark on the forehead had disappeared, leaving only a pearl cavity. It is said that the heretic also believed in the existence of past and future lives because of this. As soon as the boy was born, he bowed to his mother and pretended not to drink milk for ten months. Because it was considered an ominous sign to speak immediately after birth, he remained silent and did not speak for seven years, so people thought he was dumb. At that time, a heretical debater composed an extremely difficult poem to refute the tenets of the Buddhists and distributed it to the king and all the scholars. When this happened in the house of Viśiṣasaga, they could not understand the meaning even after thinking about it for a long time, so they could not answer it at all. Once, the father went out for some business, and the seven-year-old Chandragomin saw the poem and felt that the meaning was not difficult to understand, so he wrote an explanatory article and also wrote a reply poem. The father

Having entered, he saw it written like that, and asked Candragomin's mother, "Who has come to the house?" She replied, "No one else has come; the mute son has been watching and writing." There, when the father asked the son, he kept looking at the mother's face. The mother said, "Speak." The son said, "I wrote this, and it is not difficult to refute this argument." Then, the next morning, Candragomin and the heretical teacher debated, and Candragomin was victorious, receiving great rewards, and his fame as a scholar spread in all directions. Then, he listened once to most of the Sutra and Abhidharma Pitakas from the learned teacher Lodro Tendar (blo gros brtan pa), and thus knew them. Having received instructions from the vidyadhara teacher Mya-ngan-me-pa (mya ngan med pa), he practiced the vidya-mantras and saw the faces of Avalokiteshvara and Tara. Then, in the land of King Bharasha in the east, he composed many treatises on medicine, poetics, and other crafts. In particular, he extensively explained grammar. At that time, he took the king's daughter, named Tara, as his wife, and the king also gave him a district. Once, a servant girl kept calling Tara, and thinking that it was not appropriate to have the same name as the yidam deity in the household, he intended to go to another place. The king found out and said, "If you do not stay with my daughter, send her to the Ganges." So it was done. The teacher prayed to Tara, and he arrived at an island in the ocean where the Ganges and the ocean meet. It is said that the island was emanated by the Holy Mother, and it is called Chandra-dipa, which still exists today, and it is said that it can accommodate about seven thousand villages. Due to the prophecy of Avalokiteshvara, Gomin became a upasaka (lay devotee). His name was Chandra, and from then on he was known as Candragomin. Again, he went to the southern part of Jambudvipa. In the temple of the Brahmin Chok-se (mchog sred), he saw the arrangement of the nagas listening to the sound, and the commentary on Panini made by Naga Shisha. He criticized, saying, "The nagas are very ignorant, with many words, little meaning, repetition, and incompleteness." To explain the meaning of Panini, he composed the Chandra-vyakarana with its limbs. In that text, he said, "Brief, clear, correct, complete," which was also a satire on the nagas. Then he went to glorious Nalanda. At that time, he met Dawa Drakpa (zla ba grags pa), who had become the abbot.
