Practice: There are four types, including the non-dual instantaneous practice and the signless instantaneous practice. The definition of the first is: When a single moment of wisdom manifests a single ripened dharma, the ultimate yoga of a Bodhisattva who can manifest all dharmas that ripen in a single moment is the definition of the instantaneous practice of ripening. The definition of the second is: When a single moment of wisdom manifests a single ripened dharma, the ultimate yoga of a Bodhisattva who can manifest all dharmas that do not ripen in a single moment is the definition of the instantaneous practice of non-ripening. Here, the difference between ripening and non-ripening is: all uncontaminated dharmas from the giving of the Buddha's ground to the marks and signs are called ripening; the uncontaminated dharmas from the giving of the three pure grounds to the marks and signs are called non-ripening. The definition of the third is: The ultimate yoga of a Bodhisattva whose single moment of wisdom knows all dharmas in a single moment without dualistic grasping is the definition of the non-dual instantaneous practice. The definition of the fourth is: The ultimate yoga of a Bodhisattva whose single moment of wisdom knows that all dharmas do not have true characteristics in a single moment is the definition of the signless instantaneous practice. The boundary of the third is: it exists only in the tenth bhumi. Explanation of the Dharmakaya and its Limbs: Having explained the four practices and their limbs, the third part explains the Dharmakaya and its limbs, which are divided into three: explaining the dependent body, explaining the dependent wisdom, and explaining the activity of benefiting beings. The first has two aspects: definition and division. The definition is: the ultimate fruition of meditating on the four practices is the definition of the Dharmakaya. The divisions are: division into two, division into three, division into four, and division into five. The first is divided into two: the self-benefiting Dharmakaya and the other-benefiting Sambhogakaya. The first refers to the qualities of the Buddha's abandonment and realization. The second refers to the Sambhogakaya and Nirmanakaya. As it is said in the Uttaratantra: 'The self-benefiting and other-benefiting Dharmakaya, the dependent Sambhogakaya is its nature.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are three bodies (Sanskrit: Kāya, Tibetan: སྐུ་, literal Chinese meaning: body). The first is like the Saṃbhogakāya (Tibetan: ལོངས་སྤྱོད་རྫོགས་པའི་སྐུ་). The second is like the Nirmāṇakāya (Tibetan: སྤྲུལ་པའི་སྐུ་). The third is like the Dharmakāya (Tibetan: ཆོས་ཀྱི་སྐུ་). As it is said in the Mahāyānasūtrālaṃkāra (Tibetan: མདོ་སྡེ་རྒྱན་): 'With the three bodies, the Buddha's body is gathered; it should be known that the three bodies gather self and others; benefit depends on this.' Therefore, the third body has four types: Svābhāvikakāya (Tibetan: ངོ་བོ་ཉིད་ཀྱི་སྐུ།), Jñānadharmakāya (Tibetan: རྟོགས་པ་ཡེ་ཤེས་ཆོས་ཀྱི་སྐུ།), Saṃbhogakāya, and Nirmāṇakāya. The definition of the first, Svābhāvikakāya, is: The self-benefiting body that possesses five characteristics is the definition of Svābhāvikakāya. As it is said in the Ratnagotravibhāga (Tibetan: རྒྱུད་བླ་མ་): 'That Buddha's Svābhāvikakāya has five characteristics; briefly, it should be known that it possesses five qualities.' The five characteristics are: unconditioned, inseparable from the qualities of Dharma, without the duality of grasper and grasped, abandoning all obscurations, and luminosity. As it is said in the Ratnagotravibhāga: 'Unconditioned and without difference, it abandons the two extremes; afflictive and cognitive obscurations, as well as the obscuration of meditative absorption, are definitely liberated from the three obscurations; it is stainless and non-conceptual, therefore it is the object of yogis; because the Dharmadhātu is pure by its very nature, it is said to be luminous.' The five qualities are: immeasurable qualities, countless qualities, inconceivable qualities, unequaled qualities, and pure qualities. As it is said in the Ratnagotravibhāga: 'Immeasurable, countless, and inconceivable, unequaled, and ultimately pure, the qualities and the Svābhāvikakāya are always together; because it is vast and countless, it is not an object of conceptualization, and it solely abandons habitual tendencies.' The definition of the second, Jñānadharmakāya, is: The wisdom that has been transformed to the ultimate, which is the fundamental cause of both the form bodies, is the definition of Jñānadharmakāya. The third, Saṃbhogakāya, is divided into two types: the manifest Saṃbhogakāya and the abiding Saṃbhogakāya. The definition of the first, the manifest Saṃbhogakāya, is: The ultimate form body that possesses five certainties is the definition of the manifest Saṃbhogakāya. The five certainties are: certainty of place, such as residing in Akaniṣṭha (Tibetan: འོག་མིན་སྟུག་པོ་བཀོད་པ་); certainty of retinue, surrounded only by Bodhisattva Aryas; certainty of time, abiding until Samsara is empty; certainty of essence, possessing marks and signs. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
