The non-conceptual wisdom engages with objects through the mode of appearance. Among them, the non-conceptual and non-mistaken ones ascertain that the way of apprehension and the reality of the object are in accordance, and establish the apprehended aspect of that apprehension as self-characteristic (Svalaksana). Conceptual thought engages with objects through the mode of exclusion. All terms and concepts are not placed by the object itself, but are established as merely placed by the intention to express. Therefore, setting the apprehended aspect of that apprehension as other-exclusion (Anyapoha) is the essence of the condensed fourth chapter. In particular, refuting the distorted corrections of other Tibetans regarding other-exclusion, and emphasizing that the nature of things is that they are separate from what is not themselves and abide in their own essence, is the other-exclusion of self-characteristic of reality. All knowable things are merely empty of what is not themselves in terms of the meaning of the object, which is the other-exclusion of negation. No matter what the state of the object is, merely appearing as such by cutting off what is not that in sound and thought is established as the other-exclusion of sound and mind. Therefore, showing the view of other-exclusion without perversion is the main purpose of that chapter. So, what is the view of other-exclusion? It is to realize that all terms and concepts do not engage by the power of things, but engage merely by the intention to express, and to view the eight worldly dharmas (gain and loss, defamation and fame, praise and blame, suffering and happiness) with equanimity. This view is called the view of other-exclusion, because understanding the key to how terms and concepts engage with objects is what is necessary to establish as the view of other-exclusion. By examining the expressible and the expression, the way in which the expression of sound, which is the companion of conceptual thought, engages is determined, thereby refuting the view that a single self-characteristic and a single meaning of sound are considered the direct object of expression of the expression of sound. Therefore, things like a vase that do not separate appearance and exclusion are the direct object of expression of the expression of sound. Moreover, in terms of expression, only the general meaning of the vase goes to the direct object of the sound. In addition, for sound, there is a distinction between the time of explanation and the time of engagement, and the time of explanation is divided into two: real and nominal. This is the essence of the condensed fifth chapter. By examining contradiction and connection, the root of the valid sign that is the basis of inference, contradiction and connection, is determined. That is, by the power of the connection between the reason and the subject to be proven, the object to be proven can be proven. Moreover, that kind of connection between the sign and the property is not established in reality, but is established in the mind. That connection can be summarized into two: identity and causality. In addition, the reason, as a reason, can prevent the object to be negated by contradicting the object to be negated. Like that... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Furthermore, the duality of opposition is achieved by preventing things from being established in reality and establishing them in the mind. This is summarized into two oppositions: the opposition of 'not coexisting' and the opposition of 'mutual exclusion.' This is because it summarizes the essence of the sixth and seventh chapters. After that, the reason for establishing four chapters to establish the nature of valid cognition of knowledge is: 2-701 Temporarily, based on the basis established through hearing and thinking, examining the characteristics; based on the path, examining direct perception and inference for oneself; because the chapter on examining inference for others is established. Furthermore, by examining the characteristics, the foundation is established. Therefore, the three characteristics, signs, and bases of measurement are merely universal characteristics, while the three characteristics, signs, and bases of speculation have both self-characteristics and common characteristics. In particular, summarizing the key points of the characteristics, signs, bases, and determinants of valid cognition, this is because it summarizes the essence of the eighth chapter. By examining direct perception and inference, the path is established. Therefore, the means by which a person seeking meaning obtains the object is direct perception, which does not rely on signs, and inference, which relies on signs. Furthermore, by examining direct perception, the essence of the three results of correct direct perception, false seeming direct perception, and valid cognition is summarized. By examining inference for oneself, from the two aspects of the sign by which one understands and the object to be proven that is understood by the sign, first, the essence of the basis of the sign and the classification of signs that depend on it, etc., is summarized. 2-702 By examining inference for others, the result is established. Therefore, the necessity of generating two valid cognitions in one's own continuum is to guide fortunate individuals through argumentative statements and to refute wrong speech through refutation. Furthermore, summarizing the classifications of the speaker, the debater, the opponent, and the witness, the argument and refutation of the statement, the action of the statement generating understanding, and the ways of eliminating wrong conceptions, this is because it summarizes the essence of the eleventh chapter. So, why does this treatise show the three bases, paths, and results established through hearing and thinking twice? The reason is: in order to understand the classifications of the three bases, paths, and results that explain the nature of valid cognition of knowledge, as a component of knowledge, the three bases, paths, and results are explained from a general perspective. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
