If we differentiate, there are three kinds of infallible things: matter, consciousness, and person (Pudgala). The first, the infallible as matter, refers to those that accord with the meaning of expressive sounds, such as valid cognition (Pramana). The second, the infallible as consciousness, is synonymous with infallible wisdom, and its instances include valid cognition and decisive cognition. The third, the infallible as a person, refers to perfect beings such as Shakya Simha (Buddha Shakyamuni). Second, for new cognition, there are definition and classification. First, the definition is: that which newly sees its own object. This is the definition of new cognition in relation to its own object. There are three types of classification: new cognition of what is non-existent, new cognition of self-character, and new cognition of general character. The first is the same as non-conceptual wrong cognition. The second applies to direct perception and noble ones. The third applies to inference. The key point is that if there is new cognition and new seeing, it does not necessarily mean that there is new realization, because there is non-conceptual wrong cognition that newly knows and sees its own object. Second, regarding the way to cut off superimpositions, mundane valid cognitions cut off superimpositions by generating certainty about their own objects, while ultimate valid cognitions cut off superimpositions about their own objects by the power of Samadhi. There are four aspects to this: identifying the two valid cognitions, what is to be removed (superimpositions), what removes (certainty), and how certainty removes superimpositions. First, the definition of mundane valid cognition is: a newly arisen, infallible consciousness that generates certainty about its own object by the power of its own measurement. Examples include valid cognitions in the continuum of ordinary beings and valid cognitions in the continuum of noble ones who possess conceptual thought. The definition of ultimate valid cognition is: a newly arisen, infallible consciousness that does not need to generate certainty about its own object. Examples include valid cognitions that have become the noble path. Second, regarding superimpositions, there are three aspects: definition, pervasion, and classification. First, the definition is: the clinging consciousness that apprehends its own object in a reversed manner. Second, it is conceptually different but semantically the same as conceptual thought. Third, there are three types of classification: conceptual wrong cognition, doubt, and doubt of latent tendencies. Second, the definition of certainty is: the clinging consciousness that is certain about its own object. From the perspective of linguistic expression, there are two types: correct certainty and incorrect certainty. The first is: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It can be divided into inference and decisive cognition. The second case, such as distorted cognition, is based on certainty. The fourth part is the way to eliminate superimposition, which is divided into the way of elimination and refuting arguments. The first part is that by determining that the sound is impermanent, the decisive cognition can eliminate the superimposition that considers the sound to be permanent, because before the function of the decisive cognition disappears, it has rendered the causes and conditions for the generation of the superimposition that considers the sound to be permanent ineffective. The second part is refuting the argument, if the decisive cognition that the sound is impermanent and the superimposition that considers the sound to be permanent, are they directed at the same object or different objects? If it is the same object, then the eliminated and the eliminator are not reasonable; if it is a different object, then is this object true or false? If it is true, then the way of holding the superimposition is consistent with the fact; if it is false, then the way of holding the decisive cognition is also inconsistent with the fact. If you say so, there is no fault, because the decisive cognition that the sound is impermanent and the superimposition that considers the sound to be permanent, although the target is directed at the sound, the way of holding the superimposition is inconsistent with the fact, so it is the eliminated; and the way of holding the decisive cognition is consistent with the fact, so it is the eliminator, which is reasonable. The third part is to determine the meaning of what is indicated by the definition, which is divided into four aspects: the detailed classification of what is to be interpreted, the refutation of misconceptions about the definition, the basis for determining what the definition refers to, and the way to affirm and negate through the definition. The first part is divided into four aspects: the basis of classification, the categories of classification, the meaning of classification, and the explanation of sound. The first part is that pramana ( प्रमाण, pramāṇa,correct means of cognition) and correct knowledge are synonymous, so they are the basis for the classification of direct perception and inference. The second part is the classification, namely direct perception and inference. The third part is the meaning of classification, direct perception and inference, is it a difference that negates identity, like permanence and impermanence? Or is it a difference of opposites, like made and impermanent? Or is it a difference of substances, like a pillar and a vase? Or is it just a synonym of names, like the moon and cool light? Direct perception and inference are not differences that negate identity, because they are both things. They are also not different depending on the same object, because for example, the inference that holds the vase and the self-awareness of the experience of the inference that holds the vase, their objects are different. Moreover, direct perception and inference are not substantial differences depending on different objects, because inference and direct perception are not substantial differences, because inference and the self-awareness of the experience of inference are the same entity, so it must be admitted that they are the same entity as direct perception. Therefore, direct perception and inference are the same entity depending on the object-possessor or the essence, because inference is direct perception. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
