If it is said, 'It is the cause of rebirth,' then this argument is valid, because you are born from the previous eye faculty that became your immediate cause. Because you are the eye faculty of the intermediate state. There is pervasiveness for this inference. Similarly, you are born from the previous tongue faculty that became your immediate cause. Because you are the tongue faculty of the intermediate state. There is also pervasiveness for this inference. The same pervasiveness exists for both the ear faculty and the nose faculty. First, you are born from the previous eye faculty as an immediate cause, because you are the eye faculty of a viviparous being who has just died and entered the intermediate state. There is pervasiveness for this inference. If it is a viviparous being in the dying state, then it must be a person without the eye faculty, because if so, then it must be a person whose eye faculty has dissolved. If so, then it must be a person whose four faculties from the eye faculty to the tongue faculty have all dissolved, because when a viviparous being dies, the five faculties must dissolve in sequence, and similarly, when it is born, the five faculties must form in sequence. In short, based on the view of gradual death, the first four aggregates of this life cannot be the immediate cause of the four aggregates of the next life, so 'the five aggregates of this life' etc., are only for the situation of sudden death. Please study carefully. Furthermore, the body and mind of a person are easily established as a single entity, because they are produced from the same material cause, because their material causes have a common basis. The material that is the immediate cause of the body of a person is the common basis of the immediate cause of the body of a person and the co-emergent condition of the mind of a person. The consciousness that is the immediate cause of the mind of a person is the common basis of the immediate cause of the mind of a person and the co-emergent condition of the body of a person. Both reasons are valid. Because it is said in the scripture: 'From the co-emergent cause, the co-emergent result arises, like the fusion of fire and molten copper.' The direct meaning of that scripture is: Although the body and mind of a person are not in a relationship of immediate cause and having an immediate cause, there is a reason for co-existence, because one of the two acts as the co-emergent condition of the other through the immediate cause, and the immediate cause of the other... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Because they exist as a concomitant condition. For example, molten copper and fire that are burning, although not a cause and effect of proximate cause, the fire at that time exists as a concomitant condition of the molten copper; conversely, the molten copper exists as a concomitant condition of the fire, which is the meaning. Moreover, these two will become a single entity that is easy to establish. Because there is a connection between the two that depends on the same material basis. As it is said: 'Because the cause is the same, they exist together, like the senses and form, taste.' The meaning of this sentence is: there is a reason why body and mind exist together, because there is a connection between the two that depends on the same material basis. For example, the five senses such as the eyes, although not a cause and effect of proximate cause, exist together in the body because they depend on the same material basis; also, like a lump of brown sugar, its taste and shape, although not a cause and effect of proximate cause, exist together because they depend on the same material basis. If you admit these two inferences, then these two will arise and cease simultaneously. Therefore, if you admit, then a Pudgala (梵文:Pudgala,Pudgala,Person) without a body must be a Pudgala without a mind. If you do not agree with the inference of simultaneous arising and ceasing, then the mind of the Pudgala, as a subject, you must change with the proximate cause of the body of the Pudgala. Because you are its direct result, because it is your direct condition. If you admit, then that subject, when its proximate cause disappears, you will also disappear. Because you admit. If you admit, then a Pudgala without a body must be a Pudgala without a mind. This is how the meaning of this sentence is obtained. If it is not so, but it is considered selfless, then like the statement 'the body of the Pudgala is universal', considering this absurdity, the mind of the Pudgala changes with the proximate cause of his body, because without his body, there is no his mind. This statement is the object of ridicule for the wise. If it is not so, then listen: the subsequent stream of consciousness helped by the body of the Pudgala, as a subject, you must change with the body of the Pudgala. Because without it, you must not exist, Because without the body of the Pudgala, it must be a rabbit horn. If you admit, then it will not do so. Some people will think so. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
