This is an explanation of the actual practice of offering. First, there are four aspects: the life-force pillar, mantras, other things, and consecration, etc. First, the life-force pillar: No matter the size of the stupa, the life-force pillar is the most important and indispensable. For Buddha statues, there is no specific basis for saying it is necessary, so it is okay to have it or not. However, if the word "stupa" is understood as a general case, offering it according to the practices of the predecessors is a part of perfection. The statue of a Dharma protector must have a life-force pillar made of fierce wood, which is clearly stated in the words of the noble Rinpoche. For the material of the life-force pillar, it is best to use white or red sandalwood and agarwood. At the very least, use pine or fruit-bearing wood that is free from defects such as internal rot, cracks, breaks, or insect damage. It is even better if it grows on a good sacred mountain. There, ask the local people directly. After offering offerings to non-humans and asking for permission, on an auspicious day like the waxing moon, set up a sign that does not face east, cut it down, let it dry, and make it into a square shape of moderate thickness, with the shape of a root and a tip. Some practices make the stupa round above the umbrella support and square below. It also appears that the victory stupa is drawn or carved at the top of the life-force pillar, and half a vajra is drawn or carved at the base. This seems to be because the stupa is an incidental accomplishment of the meaning stated in the realization of the victorious mother, and the vajra is a symbol of the central channel at the base of the life-force pillar. These are all for the sake of combining the great Bodhi, or because the Indian and Nepalese scholars said that placing supreme jewels such as vajras at the base is derived from this, so it is not necessary to do these things. In terms of length: for Buddha statues, it should reach from the lotus position to the crown of the head, and for stupas, it should reach from the foundation or the main gate to the top, or from the vase seat to the sun and moon. In terms of color: if it is red sandalwood, it does not need to be painted. For other materials, vermilion is mainly used, but for writing long mantras, it is best to apply fine vermilion. In general, applying thick, good-smelling incense is also good, because all of this is to emphasize the auspiciousness of prosperity. In any case, it is very important that there are no cracks, breaks, or bends, like a gap.
