So it is said. Thus, during the time of meditative equipoise, if the mind cannot be made to abide as it is, such as when various discursive thoughts do not cease, then again practice the guru yoga as described above, and pray without tiring the body and mind. The guru merges into the sky, inseparable from one's own mind, and in that state, relax and abide without alteration. In short, if one prays to the guru with intense devotion, not just verbally but from the depths of one's heart, blessings will enter one's own mindstream, and from within the natural state of one's own mind, a naked realization will arise in the manner of self-origination. If the guru's blessings do not enter, no matter how long one meditates, one will only understand the general meaning of concepts, and a vague impression will arise. Because irreversible realization will not arise, it is crucial to emphasize devotion to the guru alone. The ultimate of the path is devotion to the guru, not just verbal practice environment, when will we see the unadulterated original face of our own mind, when will we see the self-arisen naked truth? Secondly, practicing by meditating on the means is to say that even if one sees the nature of the mind, If one does not continue to practice, then the habitual tendencies accumulated from beginningless samsara will cause the recognition of the natural state to diminish like a sun obscured by clouds. In order to prevent this from happening, one must practice without distraction at all times. Regarding how to practice, there are three methods. First, the method of making the non-abiding abide, which is to skillfully apply without distraction, is like a swordsman entering battle. In India, when fighting, one fights with each weapon, from holding a sword to picking up a stone. Therefore, the swordsman, without hesitation or distraction, spins the sword without distraction, and no one can approach him, but instead he can destroy all enemies and is sure to win the battle. If the mind is distracted or hesitant, one will be attacked by the opponent, and not only will one be bound, but one will also be defeated. Similarly, when a yogi sees the nature of the mind, if he practices on it without distraction for even a moment, not only will discursive thoughts not be able to approach, but he will also be able to destroy all discursive thoughts. If one cannot abide in this state due to hesitation and distraction, one will be controlled by distraction and confusion, and thus fall into the ocean of samsara.

It is said that there will come a time when there is no liberation, so it is very important to have unforgetful mindfulness at all times and in all circumstances. From taking refuge onwards, until settling one's mind in the state of non-elaboration, it is as before. In that state, one should continuously settle without any distraction. Whatever thoughts arise, cut them off completely. Then, repeatedly become accustomed to settling in a state of non-grasping. In this way, a state will arise where the mind naturally and effortlessly abides in non-elaboration. It is said that this is the third place of rest when one is tired, the recognition of the third place. Second, the method of making the abiding stable. Being skilled at binding without artificiality is like a skilled elephant trainer caring for an elephant. For example, an elephant is a powerful and unruly animal. Therefore, when training it, one needs someone who is skilled in going and returning. If there are too many whips and hooks, it will become angry and act as it pleases. If it is not controlled, it cannot be led onto the right path. Therefore, when it is walking on the right path, leave it as it is. When it is about to go astray, tame it with whips and hooks. Just as one desires, if this mind is also left to its own devices, it will fall into endless confusion. If there are too many antidotes, it will only add to the confusion. Therefore, one should adopt a method of being outwardly relaxed and inwardly firm, neither too loose nor too tight, and set up a vigilant line of non-distraction. If the mind is abiding in its natural state, let it abide peacefully in that state. If it is about to waver, grasp it tightly with mindfulness and settle any arising thoughts in a state of non-grasping. When one settles in this way, a thought arises. By looking at the essence of that thought, it becomes clear and without grasping. Although this symbolizes seeing the face of one's own mind, it does not prevent the flow of thoughts. Therefore, for any arising thoughts, one should settle peacefully without engaging in grasping. By becoming accustomed to this, no matter what thoughts arise, one will clearly recognize their true nature, which is called the liberation of movement in its own place. It is said that this is the fourth place of rest when one is tired, the recognition of the fourth place. Third, to bring forth power from stability. Being skilled at ultimately letting go as one pleases is like a bird flying from a ship. In India, those who go to the ocean in groups carry pigeons and crows to investigate mountains and crocodiles. In places near Jambudvipa (the Earth), bird keepers and others take good care of them. If one is not careful and lets them fly away at will, they will
