Joy! The view without hope and doubt is joy. Abiding in homeland and relatives is joy. Relying on alms for sustenance is joy. Eating great bliss as food is joy. Wearing luminous clarity as clothing is joy. Taking the messenger as the path is joy. Focusing the mind on the tip of the nose is joy. Having said this, he walked directly and unimpededly into the water. Everyone knew that he had attained accomplishment, felt regret, and prostrated to him from behind. The great sovereign lama, having touched the dust of Jetsun Ritröpa's feet on the southern Glorious Mountain, at the time of bestowing the Great Seal empowerment, in order to ascertain the nature of reality, sang this vajra song: Hūṃ Hūṃ. Saṃsāra and nirvāṇa are not separate, they exist like water and waves. Buddhas and sentient beings are not two, like poison transformed by mantra. Mind itself is one, yet manifold appearances arise, like crystal changing color due to conditions. Though various phenomena appear, they are all one's own mind, like all waters becoming salty in the ocean. Abandoning existence and non-existence, abide in the primordial mind, like the tracks of birds in the sky. Even the thickest darkness of a thousand years is dispelled by a single small lamp. The thick fog of saṃsāra, attachment and aversion, is pacified in a single instant of realizing one's own mind. By the union of skillful means and wisdom, the waves of suffering and conceptualization in saṃsāra subside. Like a jewel placed between clear and muddy water, it is pervasive and formless, without coming or going. As soon as the realization of the Great Seal arises, the pervasive and vast mind is like the sky. Clear and non-conceptual, like the sky. Appearing yet without inherent existence, like the moon in water. Like a rainbow, clear yet without grasping. Like the bliss of youth, it cannot be spoken. It does not abide in any direction, it is free from all extremes. It is not stained by any direction, it has no impurity. Like a crystal ball in mud, it remains pure and unstained. The mind without hope and doubt is like a lion. Like a river, the uninterrupted mind of great bliss. Like the light of the sun and moon, it is free from all directions. Ema! This self-arisen awareness is truly wondrous! Yogis, leave it in its natural state! By no means alter it! Unaltered, it is the dharmakāya itself. By the fault of alteration, the noble path will not be seen.
