Although some may think that one should abandon clinging to self, here it is considered skillful means to deliberately grasp at self in order to accumulate merit and gather accumulations. 22. Although some may think that one should dedicate the roots of virtue that one has personally created, here it is considered that one should dedicate the roots of virtue of all of samsara and nirvana. 23. Although some may think that dedication to the Buddhas and noble lamas is unnecessary, here it is considered necessary to dedicate to the Buddhas and lamas as well, so that activities may be accomplished. 24. The twenty-fourth vajra verse of the Compendium of Essential Points of the Bodhisattva's Training, which is the fourth chapter. Although some say that mantras do not occur in other teachings, here it is considered that mantras do occur in other teachings due to the differences in those to be tamed. 1. Although some consider that the understanding of obtaining empowerment in secret mantra is conferred through ritual, here it is considered that one obtains empowerment if the meaning of the empowerment conferred by a qualified lama arises in one's being. 2. Although some believe that empowerment cannot be given if the wheels of the mandala are incomplete with different lineages, here it is considered that empowerment can be given even with deities of the same family. 3. Although many rely on the third empowerment, considering that the example and meaning are inconsistent, here it is considered that if realization of the example and meaning does not arise, one cannot comprehend it. 4. Although some consider that which is not the generation stage to be imputation, here it is considered that the generation stage is the perfection stage. 5. Although some think that for the spontaneous arising of samadhi that awakens past karmic traces, etc., there is no need for a ritual of entry, and it is sufficient to practice it, here it is considered that the ritual of entry is very important for those that arise spontaneously. 6. Although some think that the deities of mantra have different faces and hands and are similar to those to be tamed, here it is considered that all deities possess the qualities of marks and signs. 7. Although many mainly emphasize seeing the forms of the Tathagatas and Bodhisattvas, etc., here it is considered that one should mainly rely on what is said in the sutras and tantras regarding deities, etc. 8. Meditating on the instantaneous completion stage is for those of superior faculties, and many rituals are for those of inferior faculties, so it is thought that it will not be very effective, but here it is considered that all extensive rituals are especially necessary and important for those of superior faculties. 9.

Although it is said that all the Buddha's teachings are pleasing to explain in a direct way, here it is considered that all explanations should rely on interdependence. 10. Although it is believed that the nature of the Vajra body is channels, winds, bindus, and bodhicitta, here it is considered that the nature of the Vajra body is the profound wheel. 11. Although it is also believed that the nature of channels, winds, and bodhicitta is as explained in the scriptures, here it is considered that some natures are hidden by Vajradhara. 12. In particular, although it is believed that only secret mantras are profound for channels and winds, here it is considered that certain postures and actions are also profound for medicine. 13. Although it is believed that the instructions and teachings on channels and winds are less profound than the three vows, etc., here it is considered that what others consider not profound is profound. 14. Although it is believed that the body, which is the result of practicing profound channels and winds, will be completely transformed, here it is considered that without non-profound teachings, one cannot attain Buddhahood through profound channels and winds. 15. Although some believe that if one experiences or understands something not taught in the scriptures and treatises, that is a special quality, here it is considered that experiences that contradict the teachings of the Sugata are wrong understandings. 16. Although it is believed that understanding the difference between direct and indirect meanings is sufficient as long as it agrees with one aspect, here it is considered that it must not contradict all the intentions of the Buddha's teachings. 17. Although it is believed that the merits and demerits of practice will only arise like profound teachings, here it is considered that it will not arise like teachings, but like the Buddha's teachings. 18. Although it is believed that the cause of the three bodies is flawless samadhi, here it is considered that the three flawless samadhis are the cause of the three realms of samsara. 19. Although the three bodies, such as the Nirmanakaya and Sambhogakaya, are described separately in the twenty-four places, etc., here it is considered that each of the three bodies possesses the nature of all three bodies. 20. Although many believe that mantras are the intention of Vajradhara, so the intention of the Buddha—discipline—is not necessary, here it is considered that mantras without discipline are like having no mouth. 21. Although it is said that secret mantras are accomplished through enjoying desires, here it is considered that desires will become obstacles, and this is regarded as consistent.
