For five hundred years, one will not find even a drop of water or a piece of tsampa to eat. Even if one eats, it will not pass through the throat, and the stomach will not bear it. The inner organs burn like fire, causing unbearable suffering. Animals dwelling in water, those in the outer ocean, and those scattered in the realms of gods and humans, devour each other like humans carrying burdens. Unable to plow, they are forced to till, cutting flesh, piercing noses, slaughtering, and so on. Furthermore, all kinds of animals, such as birds flying in the sky and wild animals walking on the ground, see humans as executioners with knives, fearing being killed. The suffering experienced by humans now is like being stabbed by five hundred short spears, so even being born there is suffering. The suffering of death and transference for gods is that mental suffering is a million times greater than that of hells, like comparing a fish to a mustard seed. The suffering of Asuras is that their minds are burned by fighting, their bodies are wounded, and so on, the suffering is the same as above. The suffering of birth for humans is that in the human womb, if time is not counted, it is like being pressed down by a weight. When hungry, it is like being hung in the air. Eating hot food is like being boiled in hot water, and eating cold food is like being placed in an ice cellar, causing suffering. At birth, it is like being squeezed between two great mountains. When falling to the ground, it is like being thrown into a thorn pit. When cutting the umbilical cord, it is like being skinned, causing suffering. Then, gradually aging, the teeth fall out, the hair turns white, the eyes become dim, the ears become deaf, the waist becomes bent, standing up is like being pulled, sitting down is like falling, the feet cannot support the body, being despised by everyone, and so on, are all suffering. When sick, even a toothache is unbearable, what to say of other illnesses? The suffering of death is also that one lies at the end of the bed, eats the last food, relatives surround the body, speaks the last words, and as the process of dissolution occurs, one feels the body falling into the ground. Helpless, one breathes repeatedly from the nose and mouth, and irreversibly the breath is cut off with a snap, experiencing immeasurable fear and dread, yet there is no way to deceive it, causing suffering. Furthermore, one cannot protect what one has, and one cannot find what one seeks. Fearing encountering enemies, fearing separation from loved ones, fearing not having a son, fearing not marrying off a daughter, fearing the loss of territory, faction, and reputation, and so on, are all suffering. Therefore, the happiness and prosperity of samsara,

Even obtaining the status of Brahma and Indra, as well as the rank of a universal monarch, is of no benefit. For example, a person who falls into a prison pit has no desire to stay even for a moment, except for the thought of escaping, without any attachment, thinking about when they can escape from here. The samsara that I experience, apart from suffering, has not even a moment of happiness. This is worse than a pit of fire or a prison pit, or escaping from a swamp of filth. One must find a way to escape, cut off the desire for the eight worldly concerns and the happiness of samsara, and generate pure renunciation. Four sessions. These are the common preliminaries. Second, the uncommon preliminaries include: making the continuum suitable as a vessel, so that everything done becomes the path to liberation, the guidance of refuge and bodhicitta; the practice and recitation of Vajrasattva to purify sins and obscurations; the mandala guidance to perfect the two accumulations; and the guru yoga to quickly receive blessings, a total of four. The first is: So, what is the method of liberation from the suffering of samsara and the reliable refuge? It is to rely on the Three Jewels, with the Buddha as the teacher, the Dharma as the path, and the Sangha as companions on the path, thereby practicing the path. The ultimate reliable refuge is only the Buddha. And all of this converges in the root guru, so one should pray to him for refuge. After seeking refuge, in order to benefit all sentient beings, generate the supreme bodhicitta, thereby attaining the state of perfect Buddhahood. Furthermore, one should regard all sentient beings as parents, remember their kindness, and with the intention of repaying their kindness, in order to place them in the state of Buddhahood, I shall generate bodhicitta, thinking that I will learn in the same way as all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the past generated bodhicitta and made vows. In short, the object of meditation is to visualize in front of oneself the vast ocean surrounded by forests, with the essence of the Three Jewels as a symbol of five forms, in the center is the image of a wish-fulfilling tree, or any clear tree, with one trunk dividing into five branches, on the lotus, sun, and moon seat in the center, the root guru Vajradhara, with a blue body, holding a vajra and bell in a crossed manner at the heart, sitting in the vajra posture.
