From the very beginning, see the essence, and repeatedly observe and clarify all aspects of its good and bad times. Not being in a state of dark obscurity, but being in a state of bright clarity, nakedness, all the signs of discursive thoughts are pacified in themselves, and the abiding of peace single-mindedly in the essence of virtue, without defects, relaxed and comfortable, inexpressible and able to be experienced, by abiding and observing in that state, one can realize that it is free from arising and ceasing, color, and shape, and even the sound of "it is like that" does not exist, but there is something that can be known to be free from arising and ceasing, realizing this, know that this is the arising of insight from non-realization. Twenty-second session. By doing according to the second way of observing, if all the movements of discursive thoughts appear to be emptiness, free from arising and ceasing, then it is empty talk. If it disappears without a trace, then it has arisen a little. If even the sound of "not grasping" does not exist, and in the absence of clarity and grasping, appearing and liberation are simultaneous without grasping, then it is recognition. Furthermore, for thoughts, the object of thought, place, time, and the mind at the time of movement, previous thoughts, etc., without good or bad and slight difference, clearly, knowingly, and nakedly realizing, and after the thought is withdrawn, or after the thought disappears, not becoming clear emptiness, but if one realizes that the sudden thought is clear emptiness, then it is recognition. Now, the movement of thoughts, abiding, and the essence of thoughts themselves are all nakedly in clear emptiness, therefore, for the two, thought and non-thought, if one does not truly recognize them, but only grasps them with the mind's fabrication, then there is no difference at all. Previously, because one did not truly recognize thoughts, one wasted the time of meditation, which was ignorance. If one recognizes it, the thought itself will be regarded as meditation and wisdom. Now, place the root of meditation on thoughts. Previously, it was the thought itself that obscured itself and was not seen. Rather than meditating on non-thought, it is more excellent to learn to meditate on thought, so recognize any thought that arises, and if the thought does not arise, abide in the state of non-arising, there is no need to fabricate. If it arises, abide in the state of arising, there is no need to gather it, do not have any thoughts of hope and fear. Place the essence of meditation on the thought itself, the thought does not go beyond the mind, the mind is self-

The nature of liberation is the clear and empty naked Dharmakaya, because it is free from the object and subject of liberation. To realize it in this way is to give rise to insight (vipashyana) in conceptual thought, so it is to recognize the Dharmakaya of the union of clarity and emptiness. In short, whatever arises, recognize its nature, and leave it uncorrected and undistracted. Session twenty-three. Looking at the appearance, that place is clear and unobstructed, and the mind that looks at it is also free from grasping. There is no sound of the place being over there, like a child looking at a temple. Appearances are empty and clear without a place. The two, appearance and mind, are not different, and the self-luminosity of the mind appears without obstruction. Appearance is not separated from the mind, nor is it established in another place, but appears as clarity and emptiness. This is the arising of insight in appearance, so it should be known as the Dharmakaya of the union of appearance and emptiness. Session twenty-four. Looking at the two, body and mind, in this way, they are neither one nor different, but the union of clarity and emptiness, like the moon in water, and feelings such as hot and cold appear naturally. Because of not realizing appearance and emptiness, the power of habitual tendencies increases, so it is imputed and grasped by the mind, but in reality, neither body nor mind has a basis for feelings, etc. Settle well on this appearance. If you look at it in a forced way, it will backfire. Appearance will become non-grasping and clear, and at that time, oneself and appearance will be clear and empty without a place. This is the nature of reality, and it is also the nature of mind. Oneself, appearance, and all minds are mind. Mind is also only self-luminous, and nothing else is established, so body and mind are also inseparable, and are only imputed and established by mind. Session twenty-five. Looking at the two, abiding and moving, in this way, one knows that the conceptual thoughts of the two are meditation. Know that there is no difference between abiding and moving. The way of appearing appears in turn, and does not change when abiding, and does not abide when moving. The actor is only one mind, and the nature of these two has not gone beyond the clear and empty nakedness. This is not seeing the clear and empty nakedness by retracting conceptual thoughts, but realizing the clear and empty nakedness in the very first spontaneous conceptual thought. In this way, one knows the reality of the mind, and the space between abiding and moving is called the gap, so the mind is clear without conceptual thought.
