Empty and clear. Settle the naked, pristine awareness right here. That is, settle naturally, relax without tightening. Do not judge it as good or bad. Do not doubt whether it is right or wrong. Do not elaborate with conceptual thoughts. Do not follow after many elaborations. Settle nakedly, as if cutting off firewood. Settle completely, as if snapping tender branches. By relaxing and settling in pristine awareness, the previous thought has passed, the next thought has not arisen. In this gap of letting go, there is no mind in the mind, and the nature of mind is luminosity. As it is said. The mind is empty and clear. This state of clarity, awareness, sharpness, nakedness, and openness is called Prajnaparamita, called Non-abiding Madhyamaka, called Luminosity, called Mahamudra, called Dzogchen, and also called Dharmakaya. Therefore, seeing nakedly, like a mirror. Going where you need to go, do not get lost. Seeing that itself, do not obscure it. Abide in reality, do not fabricate. As it is said. Grasp your own face firmly, and relax and settle without fabrication in this empty and clear state of stainless awareness. Do not just abandon it, settle in its own place. It is only nominally called meditation, and the name of meditation comes from that. Virtue is also called that, and essence is also called that. On top of that, relax and settle naturally without fabrication. If conceptual thoughts do not arise from it, then abide for as long as conceptual thoughts do not arise. When abiding in this way, it is also called mind, and it is also called awareness. If these wandering, forgetful, and remembering thoughts arise vividly, then this mind itself, bound by a rope, will undoubtedly be liberated if released. As it is said. Whether scattering to external objects or scattering to the inner mind, relax and settle on whatever goes. Then the scattering itself will cease, and without establishing any essence of self-nature, it will all merge into emptiness. Like the center of a clear, cloudless sky in autumn, a clear and bright state will inevitably arise. Do not be happy with its length, and do not dislike its shortness. Mahamudra is free from the two sides of affirmation and negation.

Furthermore, it is said that if the mind does not abide and wanders restlessly even when left in this way, it is because one has not separated from the mind that desires to meditate. Therefore, separate from that mind that deliberately acts. Do not engage in affirmation or negation regarding whether the mind abides or not. A raging river becomes clear by crashing, a silver mirror becomes clear by wiping, and the meditation of a yogi is comfortable by dismantling. As it is said, do not meditate, but relax and abide in your own nature. This turbidity of the ocean of awareness, if you release and abide, it will become clear. As it is said, the single word "release" is sufficient. If you release well, your meditation will be good. If you release moderately, your meditation will be moderate. If you release poorly, your meditation will not be good. Therefore, abiding on whatever thought arises is the root of the instruction. When a thought suddenly arises, directly grasp its essence and relax on that very thing. And when another thought arises, release and abide in its very nature. Meditate in short sessions and many times. There is no fault in short sessions, and no harm in many times. As it is said, when a thought wants to arise, or even before it arises, release. By releasing from here to there in this way, it is impossible for this very awareness not to appear as the Dharmakaya. In the Sutra of the Ocean of Samadhi, it says: "Uncontrived, unscattered, liberated in its own place. Appearances self-liberate in the expanse of great bliss. Like melted butter, completely naked. Practice a meditation of not meditating." As it is said. This thought will especially dawn as the Dharmakaya, so that there will be no need to abandon thoughts. Because the Dharmakaya does not need to be cultivated, the single word "release" is sufficient. In this way, even if you release and leave your own mind uncontrived, if the mind does not abide and continues to wander, then put it down forcefully, wipe a mandala and offer it, and as shown above, offer inconceivable mental offerings, and pray with great devotion until you are exhausted. When you are exhausted, abandon it carelessly in an uncontrived state of mind. If thoughts do not wander, then carelessly leave it in that state of non-wandering. In this way, if by releasing and looking, that itself also becomes a thought, it is because you have blocked the memory. Therefore, blocking thoughts is not good.
