The suffering of meeting enemies or fearing to meet them, the suffering of being separated from loved ones or fearing separation. Especially in this degenerate age, tormented by Mongol golden decrees, cruel officials, taxes, and forced labor, and so on, one is subjected to suffering regardless of good or bad. If it is good, there is suffering; if it is bad, there is suffering; if there is, there is suffering; if there is not, there is suffering. In general, since birth in this cycle of existence, it has been the nature of suffering, the cycle of suffering, and one cannot transcend the definition of suffering. As the Compassionate Protector (Maitreya) said in the Uttaratantra, "Cyclic existence is the nature of suffering; there is no happiness for those in cyclic existence. Its nature is like fire." Therefore, now is the time to have obtained this precious human body. If one does not turn back the battle of cyclic existence and does not accomplish the one definitive purpose for the future, then it cannot be reversed. Because one does not know where one will be born in the future, it is extremely rare to obtain this precious human body with leisure and opportunity. It is like throwing peas against a smooth, mirror-like wall; it is difficult for even one to stick. Therefore, obtaining a human body is even more difficult than that. Even if you throw peas at a mirror, could one stick? No, they all fall down. As it says in the Bodhicharyavatara, "Like a blind turtle's neck entering the yoke hole adrift in the vast ocean, human existence is said to be extremely difficult to find." This means that if a yoke is allowed to drift on the surface of a vast ocean, and a turtle comes to the surface of the ocean with its head above the water once every hundred years, it is extremely difficult for the turtle's head to fit into the hole of the yoke. Obtaining a human body is even more difficult than that. Therefore, the teacher Lodrö Mitzepa also said, "This leisure and opportunity is extremely difficult to find. If one has obtained a human body and has the opportunity to accomplish something meaningful, but does not accomplish any benefit from it, how will one ever obtain it again in the future?" Therefore, it is difficult to obtain and easy to lose. In this short time of having obtained a human body, one must gain the certainty of not wandering in cyclic existence. If one does it oneself, it can be done, so one must do it. One must be kind to oneself. It is important not to deceive oneself, so one must practice Dharma no matter what.

There is no opportunity to be idle. To practice Dharma, one must first have discipline, which is what was obtained before. Now, the root of wandering in samsara and attaining Buddhahood is one's own mind. Because one does not understand its nature, one wanders in samsara. Understanding it leads to Buddhahood, so one must understand its nature. What is the reason for not understanding its nature? It is because sins have not been purified. Therefore, to purify sins, the instruction of the Hundred Syllable Mantra is very important, so one should practice it diligently. Moreover, in a secluded place, one should do retreats and observe silence, etc., keeping it secret. Sit on a comfortable cushion and think like this: "Ah Pa, I am lucky that I have not died since I went to Khar. I have spent my time meaninglessly. Now that there is not much life left, in this short time, I will not accomplish ultimate benefit, I will not do the supreme Dharma. Now, I will entrust this short remaining life to this life, not taking the Lama and the Three Jewels as witnesses," thus wasting time. Meditate briefly on impermanence of death and the faults of samsara. This is necessary to avoid falling into laziness and idleness. Then, generate Bodhicitta. That is, for the benefit of all sentient beings, one must attain perfect Buddhahood, and also establish all sentient beings in the state of perfect Buddhahood. For this, one should practice the meditation and recitation of the Hundred Syllable Mantra, thinking deeply from the heart. Recite the refuge in Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, etc., three times. After that, in the space above one's head, about an arrow's height, where one visualizes oneself as the Yidam deity, visualize the Bhagavan Glorious Vajrasattva, with a white body, one face, and two arms, the right hand holding a golden five-pronged vajra at the heart, the left hand holding a silver bell at the hip, adorned with all precious jewels, inseparable from the Wisdom Being. In his heart, on a lotus and moon seat, visualize a Tibetan letter ཧཱུྃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hum), the color of mercury, white and shining, which is the essence of the mind of all Buddhas, inseparable from wisdom. From there, rays of light radiate in all directions, inviting the mind of all Buddhas of the three times, the essence of wisdom inseparable, all sentient beings.
