Therefore, without distraction, continuously maintain that state. One can visualize dissolving the mandala and abide in the pride of the main deity, or without dissolving it, first focus the mind on the ūrṇā between the eyebrows. If it is clear, then interrupt it at the moment of clarity, relax a little, and then meditate again. If it is not clear, then interrupt it at the moment of unclearness, relax a little, and then meditate again. From here on, it is very important that all visualizations are clear, and interruption is to remove the poison of meditation, so it is important to know the measure at all times. When interrupting, even if the previous meditative image is still vivid, because it is the poison of meditation, divert attention to other objects such as a vase. Immediately after that, meditate as before, repeating it again and again, so that the visualization becomes clear through meditation. If, despite such effort, the visualization does not become clear, then meditate on clarifying it through recitation. There are two ways to do this: clarifying it by reciting oneself, which is to recite, "The ūrṇā between the eyebrows is white, the pupils are black, and the eye veins are red and wrathful," while reciting, eliminate the poison of meditation and meditate. If it is still not clear, then have someone else clarify it by reciting. Have another person recite as before, while meditating as if eliminating poison. If it is still not clear, then clarify it by looking at it, looking at a very beautiful drawing of the ūrṇā between the eyebrows, maintaining focus and eliminating the poison. When interrupting, if the image is still vivid, because it is the poison of meditation, divert attention to other objects as before. By meditating repeatedly in this way, if the image that one wants to be clear appears clearly, then one reaches the pure realm of each of the deities. If one wants to eliminate the clear appearance, and is able to eliminate it, then one reaches the pure realm of Suchness. If, based on that, the experience of śamatha and vipaśyanā arises, then one reaches the pure realm of self-awareness. Finally, the sequence of rising is that during the session or rest, one should dissolve through the completion stage. Starting from dissolving all external environment and beings into the protective circle visualized, gradually visualizing the heart seed syllable ཧཱུྃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hum) transforming into a mass of light and dissolving into a bindu, which is the nature of the five aggregates being dissolved, therefore it is the purity of each of the Buddhas according to the method of the completion stage. Visualizing it as appearing red and black like the tip of a flame, which is the nature of great bliss, therefore it is the purity of self-awareness. After that, abiding without grasping in a state of non-objectification, that is Suchness.

It is the purification of the mind. The third is to definitely settle or to retrieve and settle: If, due to the power of forgetfulness, one is distracted elsewhere, one should recognize that and then re-engage with that very object. For example, even if one focuses on the eyes, if one forgets that and consciousness scatters elsewhere, one should immediately realize that one is distracted, grasp it with mindfulness, and then settle the mind on the previous object. The fourth is close settling: If the field of the mind's scattering becomes vast, one should repeatedly gather it and make it subtle, and then settle it. In this case, if the mind becomes weary with a single object and scattering and agitation increase, then one should focus the mind for a short time on the crown of the head, or various vajras, or the fangs of the face, and then practice the previous object again, which will relieve the mind. The fifth is taming: One should remember that there are immeasurable qualities in meditating on samadhi, as stated in the scriptures and treatises, and not let the mind be too scattered. In whichever of the four activities, it is best if the form of the deity is clear. Even if it is not clear, one should always remember the form of the deity and tame the mind. The sixth is pacifying: When one becomes displeased due to the scattering of thoughts, one should think about the faults of scattering and then relax the displeased mind, making it peaceful on the non-object. The seventh is completely pacifying: If attachment, displeasure, sleepiness, etc., become obstacles to samadhi, one should rely on the respective antidotes to eliminate them, or rely on the object itself to pacify them. The eighth is making one-pointed: One should practice so that the samadhi itself, with its manifest activity, will later arise effortlessly and continuously. When the mind does not scatter outwards and abides on the object, one should settle it one-pointedly on that. The ninth is extremely evenly settling: Because the previous objects are gradually familiar and stable, even without special effort, one will effortlessly and spontaneously enter samadhi naturally and gain freedom. Thus, relying on the nine methods of abiding in the mind, when the mind is firmly focused on one part of the body, one should gradually transfer the object to other parts of the body and practice. That is, in the first session, do not meditate on the middle of the eyebrows. In the second session, meditate on the eyes.
