Da. Seeing external objects is a delusion. The verse says: All phenomena are appearances of the mind. Second, proving the mind as illusion has two parts. Among the four main examples, if you think the illusion is real, it is not. For example, the materials of illusion, such as shells and monkey tails, are blessed by mantras. Although they do not exist, they appear as many things such as horses, cattle, and houses. Similarly, the mind itself arises from the cause of habitual tendencies of various delusions. Now, one's own mind arises as various appearances. If there are no habitual tendencies, it will not arise. Therefore, in ultimate truth, there is nothing that is truly established and arises independently. Second, mirages are the vapors of the earth blown by the wind, and from a distance, the valley appears to be filled with water. Third, water moons are when the sky is not obscured by clouds, the moon's halo appears, and the three conditions of clear water are met, the image of the moon appears in the water, but if they are not met, it does not appear. Fourth, lightning is when the conditions of water bubbles and wind in the sky are met, a very bright light appears to flash. Second, among the four examples of branches, the stolen moon is when, in the southeast of Harikela, at night when it rains, the clouds dissipate, and the objects of a city appear in the ocean even though they do not exist. Or, the walls of King Simhala's city are very clear, and the images of houses, people, horses, cattle, etc., appear on them. Second, the city of inquiry is, from the characteristics of the place and the proximity of the clouds, it appears as a city. Third, clouds are, the masses of clouds that appear in the sky, where do they come from when they first arise, and where do they go when they dissipate? One cannot find their location, but they appear from the cause of the earth's vapors forming in the sky. Fourth, rainbows are when sunlight and the shadows of clouds gather, various colors appear from a distance, but when you go near, nothing appears. These explain that the mind itself has no true nature, but the power of various changes of the mind, relying on various causes and conditions, produces various results. Therefore, this is to cut off elaboration. In the 'Two Examinations' it says: Nature is primordially unborn, True nor untrue, likewise, All are like the moon in water, Thus yoginis know.

And, the Samadhiraja Sutra says: "Like a city of gandharvas, like illusion and mirage, like a friend of the moon who snatches life, like a dreamlike play." Also, as stated in the Mother Sutra, from form to omniscience is like an illusion. The teacher says that this is because they are images. Third, proving that illusion has no intrinsic nature, divided into two parts: proving that appearance is dependent origination, and proving that dependent origination is inexpressible. First, the first part, in the four main examples, the first is recitation: If it is thought that it is true that it arises from the gathering of causes and conditions, it is not so. When the disciple's recitation arises from the teacher's recitation, the disciple's recitation will not arise without relying on the teacher's recitation. Just as it is not transferred to the disciple, whether it is the previous and subsequent speech, or the moment of birth and death, or the state of the previous and subsequent moments, without relying on the previous one, the subsequent one will not arise, so it is called uninterrupted. Because the previous one has not been transferred to the subsequent one, there is no arising. Therefore, because it does not stay in the middle, there is no birth, death, going, coming, no edge and center, so it is liberated from the extremes of addition and subtraction. Thus, definite understanding arises. Second, the lamp: it appears from the gathering of causes and conditions of the trunk without moisture, oil, and fire. Third, the mirror: the mirror is completely cleared of dirt, and when it meets the image of the face, the image will appear in the mirror. Fourth, the seal: a seal made of copper, etc., stamped on mud or clay, will produce an image similar to the pattern inside the seal. Second, in the four auxiliary examples, the first is the fire mirror: the obscuring clouds dissipate, the fire mirror is very clear, and the sun's rays are very bright. When these three gather together, dry wormwood will quickly ignite. Second, the seed: that is, the tip of the green rice seedling. Fertile fields, suitable seasons, warmth and moisture, and undamaged seeds gather together, and will grow from seedlings to trunks and ears of rice. Third, sourness: someone has eaten sour fruit, and has a habit in the continuum. When he sees others eating the same kind of sour fruit that he has eaten, he will be awakened, and saliva will flow from his mouth. Fourth, echo: in a house or on a high cliff
