Do not merely remain in the cessation of non-conceptualization, because one must abandon the previous state and meditate, so it is very important to know the boundary between disappearing and not disappearing. Initially, the state of abiding does not seem to last long, but once you find some clues of experience, it becomes longer and longer. Here, focusing the mind on the object and maintaining its continuity is close abiding. Whenever conceptual thoughts arise, immediately cut them off and re-abide. Then, the time becomes longer and longer, which is close abiding. After that, remembering the qualities of samadhi and cultivating joy, one becomes more willing to practice, which is taming. Sometimes, remembering the faults of distraction, distraction and so on naturally cease, which is pacifying. These two are the ways of generating joy and generating aversion. For any conceptual thoughts that arise, such as hope, fear, and attachment, observe more the nature of their arising. Through the previously cultivated knowledge as unreal, it increases, and naturally pacifying is near pacifying. For a period of time, for the mind that is prone to distraction, these methods must be repeatedly applied. After that, if one can restrain the mind, there will be no faults of sinking and excitement, and the mind will be able to abide in the state of emptiness for a long time. At this time, it is necessary to restrain, which is the act of making the mind stream into one. Finally, merely remembering the previous experience of view, the state with the aspect of emptiness will last for a long time. At that time, relax the effort and abide naturally, thus accomplishing what is called equipoise. This method of cultivation, in the Abhidharma, there is also a method of shamatha-vipassana cultivation with vipassana as the forerunner, which is its school. This is similar to the school of Kamalashila's Stages of Meditation, which is a non-conceptual meditation method with prior investigation. In the Precious Box of Master Potowa, it is said that the school of glorious Atisha only needs prior investigation. However, some teachings of Atisha's Mind Training, etc., the sutra school, and many teachings of tantra such as Mahamudra, also have many teachings that abandon investigation. But for the time being, when explaining the pith instructions of the Stages of the Path, the great spiritual friend
