This is the fifty-eighth. Therefore, it has been determined that the aggregates of one's own continuum are unreal. Now, just as it has been determined that the five aggregates encompassed by one's own body and mind are unreal, so too are the body and mind, the five aggregates, of all sentient beings. In particular, focusing specifically on an object that easily generates strong afflictions, such as an enemy or a loved one, analyze their body as you would analyze your own. Analyze their mind as you would analyze your own mind, the basis of names. Therefore, calling so-and-so and such-and-such sentient beings is merely a false imputation, and in reality, nothing is established anywhere, like an illusion. By training in this way, apply this reasoning to all things and meditate. This is called meditating on all sentient beings as empty, and it is the fifty-ninth object of focus. Furthermore, not only sentient beings, but also the external container world is merely nominally designated. Destroying the three thousandfold great thousand world system into emptiness, similarly, destroying the general emptiness, the four continents, Jambudvipa, a single realm, a yojana, a krosa, a fathom, a cubit, a square inch, a finger joint, a barleycorn, and even down to the finest particle, none of the previous can be established. Even the finest particle, when destroyed as before, ultimately nothing is established. Because one is not established, many are not established, and so on, as before. In short, it is like this and that. This is a house. This is a field. This is grain. This is wealth. This is a harvest. Similarly, holding mountains, plains, oceans, and realms, etc., to be real is merely clinging to appearances as real, by separately naming and designating them. In reality, not even a little is established. Train your mind in this way. This is meditating on the container world as empty, and it is the sixtieth object of focus. Furthermore, all the container and contents of oneself and others, all visible and audible forms that are tangible and obstructive, are encompassed by the five elements: earth, water, fire, wind, and space. All awareness and movement are encompassed by consciousness. Among these, the four great elements, when refined, cannot stand alone but are mixed and abide together. Even the fine particles of earth are not established, but are mixed with other elements.

To understand this, the term "emptiness" is merely a conceptual designation applied to the absence of tangible forms, devoid of action and true substance. Similarly, "consciousness" is but a fleeting appearance arising from temporary conditions, impossible to grasp as truly existent. All outer and inner phenomena, by their very nature, are fundamentally unestablished. Though appearances may persist in the minds of the deluded, they lack inherent existence and should be contemplated as illusory. Meditate on the emptiness of all outer and inner phenomena; this is the sixty-first point of focus. Furthermore, the term "non-existence" is merely a concept posited in relation to existence, let alone in ultimate truth, it is not even established in relative acceptance and rejection, there is nothing at all. All phenomena of appearance and sound are fundamentally unestablished! One should contemplate in this way. Since it is originally separated from the root, there is no such thing as the "dharma of emptiness." Just as a barren woman cannot give birth to a child, it is impossible to say that a barren woman has no child. Such emptiness is also posited in relation to non-emptiness, therefore, one should not grasp at existence, non-existence, is, is not, etc., with conceptual thought, but should rest in a state of clarity and non-conceptuality. If conceptual thought arises, then look at its essence and meditate on its separation from grasping. It is crucial to combine the previous and this meditation, and to meditate repeatedly with clarity and brevity. This is the ultimate meditation on freedom from elaboration, the sixty-second point of focus. Then, combine all of these and meditate. Briefly recall the previous understanding, and for all outer and inner phenomena of oneself and others, the so-called "I" and "mine" are also unestablished, there is no creator, it is merely an appearance arising from the aggregation of conditions. All of this is neither one nor many, so it is merely an appearance in the face of delusion, from the perspective of reality, nothing is established. If one examines carefully, the so-called "unestablished" and "non-existent" are merely conceptual designations given to phenomena that appear to contradict a newly created definition of "existence." In this way, through mutual examination, when the object of meditation disappears, do not think anything, but rest in equanimity. Do not let the previous object of meditation, the appearance of emptiness that is separated from all grasping, disappear, but rest in that non-conceptual state. If that appearance disappears, then meditate on the state of emptiness.
