The Third Volume of "Instructions Treasury". The Third Volume of "Instructions Treasury". The Nectar Essence: A Guide to the Oral Instructions on the Stages of Entering the Victorious Ones' Teachings for the Three Types of Individuals. This is the treatise called "The Nectar Essence: A Guide to the Oral Instructions on the Stages of Entering the Victorious Ones' Teachings for the Three Types of Individuals." Homage to the Three Jewels! To those adorned with the wealth of numerous qualities, I pay homage to the Lamas of the three lineages. To explain the essence of the treatises cherished by Dipamkara, I will explain here the supreme path of the great chariots. Here, all the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Shravakas of the three times, who are the noble ones of the three vehicles, have attained the supreme state of liberation and omniscience by meditating on this very path. This Dharma is also called the Stages of Entering the Teachings, the Stages of the Path of the Three Types of Individuals, the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment, and the Entrance to the Great Chariot. To teach this Dharma, there are three parts: the root of all paths, relying on a virtuous spiritual friend; the actual stages of the path, training in the thoughts of the three types of individuals; and the result of that, the method of applying the unsurpassed enlightenment. First, one must understand the characteristics of a virtuous spiritual friend and how to rely on them with respect. During the session of meditative equipoise, one should do as follows: sit in the lotus position, keep the body straight, and so on, making the gross conduct clear and clean. Visualize the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas filling the sky. One must perform prostrations and offerings, whether extensive or concise, such as the seven-branch practice. First, make preliminary prostrations and offerings. Then, reciting the seven-branch practice from the "Bhadrakalpika Sutra" three times, remembering the meaning. Then, in the sky in front, at the highest point, reside countless Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. In the sky directly in front, reside all the assemblies of root Lamas and lineage Lamas.

Imagine being surrounded by a dense crowd. Pray to all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas residing in the ten directions, and to all the authentic Lamas, the great virtuous spiritual friends, to remember me. Pray for them to bless me. Pray for them to pacify all the stains of my inverted perceptions. Pray for them to generate all the non-inverted realizations. Pray for them to eliminate all obstacles to my practice of the Great Vehicle's Dharma. Make such fervent prayers. Finally, offer a single offering emanated by the mind. Visualize the root and lineage Lamas descending from your crown and residing in the tent of light in your heart. Believe that the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas dissolve into that very place, remaining invisibly. May this root of my virtue, for the benefit of all sentient beings, lead to the attainment of Buddhahood. And recite: By this merit may all beings, complete the accumulations of merit and wisdom, and may the two supreme bodies, born from merit and wisdom, be attained. Dedicate the merit with such verses. During breaks between sessions, do not dwell on the Lama's faults, but only remember their virtues. I do not have the fortune to see the Buddha directly. The compassionate manifestations of the Buddhas of the three times appear in the form of virtuous spiritual friends. Therefore, my Lama is in reality the actual Buddha. In terms of kindness, my Lama is even greater than all the Buddhas. Whatever I desire, whether it be heavenly bliss, liberation, or Buddhahood, the Lama grants me whatever methods are needed without concealment. If even a single good quality arises in me, or a single fault diminishes, it is due to the Lama's kindness. I have obtained such a rare and profound Dharma. I think, 'How great is the Lama's kindness!' Furthermore, my body and all my possessions should be offered for the sake of the Lama. In terms of body, all actions of respect, service, and immediate assistance that accord with the Lama's wishes should be accomplished. In terms of speech, only speak words that praise the Lama's body, speech, and mind qualities, and that are beneficial to the Lama. In terms of conduct, whatever pleases the Lama's mind, and whatever the Lama says and does, that should be accomplished. Think about this repeatedly and put it into practice. At this time, make the following supplication:
