It is called "Non-Distraction." Relying on the power of Samadhi, one blesses the continuum of others, or one benefits sentient beings through the special ability of clairvoyance. All of these must rely on a single Shamatha and Vipassana that is free from faults and perfectly complete. I must first place my mind equally on Shamatha, and then I must also accomplish all other special qualities of Samadhi. Meditate repeatedly in this way. The object of focus is singular. At this time, it would be best if one could explain the nature of Shamatha in detail and have a definite understanding of it. Although it is permissible to teach the guidance of Shamatha here, it is only to have certainty in the view and to gain some experience. It is acceptable even without a stable Shamatha. After having well accomplished a stable Shamatha, then cultivating the view and accomplishing Vipassana is the view of all great treatises and a great highway. However, nowadays, dull-witted individuals take a long time to accomplish a faultless and stable mind-abiding, so there is concern that they will lose the opportunity to practice the Prajnaparamita. If one cultivates mind-abiding on top of gaining experience of the view, then Shamatha and Vipassana can be accomplished simultaneously. Considering that it is easy to guide students in this way and easy to gain experience, it seems that actual practice is not done here. Now, among all of these, the most supreme, which is also the main of all that should be learned, and also the ultimate destination of all practices, is to teach the Prajnaparamita. There are three Prajnas: the Prajna of ultimate truth, the Prajna of conventional truth, and the Prajna of benefiting others. The first is the Prajna of realizing emptiness, the true nature. The second is the Prajna of knowing the nature, divisions, causes, effects, and dependent origination of all knowable things without error. The third is the Prajna of knowing how to benefit beings through the four means of gathering. That is, by giving material things, knowing how to make beings happy and establish them in the Dharma; knowing how to speak sweetly, proclaiming the Dharma in accordance with the minds of beings; knowing how to establish the actions of benefiting beings in the other six perfections; knowing that one's own actions are also not contrary to the six perfections. Among these, establishing beings in the other six perfections is knowing what methods of taming should be adopted for different beings to be tamed.

From whence does it come? Or the wisdom of hearing, thinking, and meditating. Knowing through hearing, severing elaborations through thinking, and manifestly realizing wisdom through meditation. These three, I must generate in my being. This is training in the intention of the Perfection of Wisdom. The second of the meditation outlines. Now, one must train in the application of the Perfection of Wisdom. Therein, meditating on the selflessness of persons, meditating on the selflessness of phenomena, and training in the essence of emptiness and compassion, these are three. First, the preliminaries and conclusions are as previously explained. In the main part, one sits in the vajra posture, hands in equipoise, spine straight, neck slightly bent, shoulders slightly extended outward, lips naturally placed, tongue touching the palate, eyes gazing at the tip of the nose. Then, exhale three times from the nose with a "sang sang" sound. After that, let the breath be natural. Meditate on a bit of renunciation and weariness, and generate loving-kindness and compassion in the being. Then, focus the mind on one's own body, speech, and mind. Engage in analysis. Since beginningless samsara, due to the habit of grasping at "I" as self, apart from appearing as if "I" exists, the so-called "I" does not exist in reality at all, think like this. These are the basis of meditation. Therein, the so-called "I" or self, if it existed in reality, that would be the self of persons. But such a self of persons does not at all exist in reality, therefore such a self of persons cannot be pointed out from the aspect of its own nature. However, if we follow the way of grasping and presuming of the self-grasping that grasps what does not exist as existing, then it is grasping at permanence, oneness, and independence. That is, now I did this, intending to do this patience, last year's I is this present I, this will continue now, that is called grasping at permanence. When the thought of "I" arises, it appears as if there is one entity that is not mixed with any other internal or external phenomena, and that can establish its own nature, that is called grasping at oneness. Just as one appears to have rightful enjoyment, or possessions or retinue, as if one is the master, that is called grasping at independence. Although the way of grasping is like that, it is not established in that way. If the self were truly permanent, then the self should always be happy if it experiences happiness once, and should always be in suffering if it experiences suffering once, and
