The root of afflictions, which is the cause of wandering in samsara, also includes six: attachment, anger, pride, ignorance, wrong views, and doubt. Although there are various classifications such as the nine pervasive ones, the root of all is the three poisons: attachment, hatred, and ignorance. Although there are extremely many types of karma, the karmas that throw one into samsara can be summarized into three. Non-meritorious karma, which is called sin, has the power to throw one into the lower realms. Meritorious karma is the virtue of the desire realm where the mind is not equally placed, that is, giving that has not gone to the path of liberation, and the discipline of the desire realm, etc., which are the cause of gods and humans in the desire realm. Immovable karma is: The karma of concentration of the four meditations or the four formless absorptions is the only virtuous karma, which throws one into the form realm and the formless realm. All of these are obscured by ignorance, which does not realize the nature of reality. By clinging to the aggregates of samsara as self, and cherishing self, one is completely taken and becomes the cause of samsara. Among them, the affliction of ignorance or delusion is that when we examine our own mind, we do not know the nature of samsara or where samsara comes from. We do not know the nature of liberation or how to obtain it. We also do not know how these are accomplished. Perhaps there is only a little understanding from hearing and thinking, but if we examine the way our own mind appears, no matter which aspect we look at, it is like entrusting our mind to a foreign land that we know nothing about, and there is only a vague, dark, and confused thought. This is it (ignorance). Because it does not understand the situation, it doubts the truth. Although there is no self, it clings to self, and all evil views arise from this, and all evil views are followers of ignorance. Also, regarding its existence, first, there is attachment to one's own body and mind. Based on this, there is attachment to internal sentient beings such as wives, relatives, attendants, etc., and attachment to external objects of use such as food, clothing, enjoyment, houses, fields, wealth, goods, places, etc. Now, our delight in our own body and enjoyment is the affliction of attachment. Based on this, pride, stinginess, and jealousy all arise. Also, if harm is done to oneself or one's own side, hatred arises towards it. To oneself or what one has completely taken

Merely having the thought of those beings who have caused or are suspected of causing harm is anger or hatred. Moreover, this anger arises even towards inanimate objects. For example, feeling uneasy about the enemy's city, or even getting annoyed at the streams that harm one's fields, and so on. As this anger grows and expands, it gives rise to gross malice, rage, annoyance, resentment, and various other manifestations of hatred. These three poisons are the main cause of wandering in samsara for all beings, whoever they may be. Therefore, now we must try to avoid them at all costs. If we put our own "I" first, we must recognize the afflictions that arise in our own mind and the actions that result from them, and then practice accordingly. This is the second section on objects. In these cases, it is very helpful to know the classification of karma and afflictions. Second, contemplating the cause and effect of liberation: I must abandon samsara and attain liberation. So, what is the nature of that liberation? So-called liberation is not about running away to another place. It is about abandoning all the afflictions on one's own mind from the root, so that they cannot produce any results. By abandoning karma and afflictions, new samsara is not created. The old remnants are quickly cleared away. Liberation is when all the suffering of the three realms of samsara has ceased, and pure wisdom abides. "Abandoning without return" means that once liberation is attained, it is impossible to lose it again. The cause of attaining that liberation is through the wisdom of non-outflow, realizing the nature of selflessness and eliminating obscurations. To achieve this, one needs single-pointed concentration. To achieve single-pointedness, one needs pure morality. And to make that morality pure, one needs a thorough renunciation and the view of selflessness, which are strong causes for liberation. Now, for the sake of liberation from samsara, we should keep morality, practice meditation, cultivate the wisdom that arises from meditation, and contemplate impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness.
