Even though one possesses the wish-fulfilling jewel of five wisdoms within oneself, one wanders in samsara seeking it elsewhere, blinded in the eye of wisdom by the ignorance of grasping due to not knowing its true face. Now, with the compassionate wisdom instruction of the guru, may the obscurations of ignorance be removed with a golden needle, and may the radiance of awareness within the heart be shown manifestly through the senses. Thus it is said. Eleventh, showing what is seen, in four parts. First, showing the guru's vision: The guru says, "Look, look, son of noble family! Do not be distracted, look into the nature of mind! I see various visions. Child, what do you see, tell me!" In response, one says, "I see the guru as a Buddha." Thus it is said. This is because those who have purified their karma see the guru as a deity's form, a mass of light, and so forth, and with devotion, see the guru as a Buddha. Second, showing the vision of the mandala: One says, "Look, fortunate son with eyes! Look at this beautiful mandala! Now is the time to generate supreme faith! What do you see the mandala as?" In response, one answers according to what one sees most prominently, such as white, yellow, red, green, blue, and so on. This is to recognize the nature of one's own manifested wisdom. Then, introducing them in order with a golden needle and so forth, the reality of the mandala is explained: The central circle appearing in blue is a symbol of the basis, the meaning of dharmata, being free from opposition. The eight beautiful lotus petals appearing in color are a symbol of the basis possessing the essence of the five winds. Appearing in four corners is a symbol of possessing the light of the four elements. Having four walls and four doors is a symbol of the four activities being complete in oneself. Appearing as five layers of lotus jewel walls is a symbol of possessing the self-radiance of the five wisdoms. The four steps are a symbol of the four immeasurables being spontaneously accomplished in the basis. The eight deer are a symbol of the eight aggregates of consciousness being pure from the basis. The four wheels are a symbol of the wheel of dharma of the four outer, inner, secret, and unsurpassed [aspects] having been turned from the beginning. The four umbrellas are a symbol of permanence, stability, immutability, spontaneous accomplishment, and primordial existence in the realm of the basis. The various vajras are a symbol of all phenomena being enlightened from the beginning, abiding in the state of Great Perfection.
