Eighty-eight, ninety-four, one hundred and ten, etc., cessation and arising transformation, desiring to abandon by generating non-dual wisdom. There are three aspects to determining the nature of this path: the characteristic of what is to be abandoned, the divisions of what is to be abandoned, and the manner of abandoning what is to be abandoned. Firstly, in general, the characteristic of afflictions is that they do not pacify the mind's continuum, and specifically, the characteristic of what is to be abandoned by seeing is that it does not pacify the mind-stream due to conceptualization. Secondly, there are two: the divisions of the entity and the divisions of the manner of abandonment. The first has two: root afflictions and near afflictions. If the root afflictions are abandoned, then the near afflictions are also abandoned in their wake, so first, the root afflictions are explained: desire, anger, pride, ignorance, doubt, and views, totaling six. There are five types of views: the three views of the self-view, extreme view, and wrong view, and the two of view and holding vows and observances as supreme. Secondly, there are two divisions of the manner of abandonment: what is to be abandoned by seeing and what is to be abandoned by meditation. The first is, according to the system of the Particularists, in the Treasury of Knowledge, it says: "Those ten and seven, seven eights, except for the three two views, in the desire realm, suffering, etc., are gradually abandoned by seeing." Thus, it is considered to be eighty-eight. In summary, it is said that there are ninety-four to be abandoned by seeing. In the Compendium, it is said that in the desire realm, there are five pervasive contaminations and five included in views, totaling ten, which operate on the four truths, so there are forty. In the two upper realms, there is no anger, so there are nine nines, and those also operate on the four truths, so nine fours are thirty-six, plus two seventy-two, totaling one hundred and twelve. If so, in the formless realm, the four holdings of vows and observances that hold sinful actions of body and speech as the cause of liberation are not reasonable, so the to-be-abandoned-by-seeing should become one hundred and eight. If so, it becomes one hundred and eight. In that place, although there is no holding of actions of body and speech as the cause of liberation, there is holding of self-liberation as the cause by view, so it is suspected to be the holding of vows and observances. If so, does this not become a holding of view as supreme? It does not become a holding of view, the aspect of holding view as supreme is holding as supreme and principal, etc., while the aspect of holding vows and observances as supreme is holding as liberation, etc., so the manner of holding is different. If so, the realm of suffering and origin

If someone asks, although they all belong to the three realms, only the uncontaminated path can eliminate afflictions, so it is unreasonable to establish the cessation and path of each of the three realms separately. Answer: There is no fault. In the Compendium of Topics it says, "This is from the perspective of the three realms." This is because all the suffering to be abandoned is in the desire realm, so the cessation of suffering and its causes is called the cessation of the desire realm, and the method of realizing it is called the path of the desire realm. Similarly, the cessation and path of the upper two realms are also established in this way. If someone asks, then the Compendium of Topics says that there are one hundred and twelve things to be abandoned by seeing, while the Compendium of Topics says that there are ninety-four, is this not contradictory? To this, some say that this is according to the order of the Yogacara school and the Sutra school, but it is best to explain that this is due to the different establishments of coarse and fine, and is the view of different sutras. Third, the way to abandon what is to be abandoned: The Lesser Vehicle Vaibhashika school believes, as the Treasury of Knowledge says: "By the path that leads to cessation, Its obscurations are completely abandoned." That is, afflictions are abandoned by the path that leads to cessation. The Common Great Vehicle school changes this sentence to: "By the path that leads to arising, Its obscurations are completely abandoned." It is believed that afflictions are abandoned by the path that leads to the arising of antidotes. The Uncommon Great Vehicle school believes that in ultimate truth, what is to be abandoned and the antidote are not self-established, so both arising and ceasing are unreasonable. As the Ornament for Clear Realization says: "Here there is nothing to be removed, Nor is there anything to be established." And as the Engaging in Bodhisattva Behavior says: "In such emptiness, What is gained and what is lost?" As these say. In conventional truth, it is not believed that the antidote can abandon what is to be abandoned, because when there is something to be abandoned, there is no antidote, and when the antidote arises, what is to be abandoned has already ceased, and because the times are different, there is no encounter. In the face of an unexamined mind, establishing the arising of wisdom as the abandonment of what is to be abandoned is like the two ends of a scale. Second, the classification of how the path of seeing arises: four kinds of differences: the basis of arising, the ground of reliance, the way of realization, and the moment of arising. The way the path of seeing arises is: where it arises, what ground it relies on, how it is realized, and in how many moments it arises. First, the basis of arising: it arises in men and women of Jambudvipa, Purvavideha, and Aparagodaniya, and in the gods of the desire realm, because they have sharp faculties, accept the teachings of the Buddha, and have strong renunciation. Due to the karmic obscurations of the ripening result
