For sentient beings, the second Dharma wheel, which is extremely rare and wonderful, was turned by explaining emptiness. The second Dharma wheel turned by the Blessed One is supreme, ambiguous, and requires interpretation, serving as the basis for debate. Starting from the absence of inherent existence of all phenomena, from non-arising to non-cessation, from primordial peace to naturally complete nirvana, for those who have entered all vehicles, the third Dharma wheel, which is extremely rare and wonderful, was turned with excellent distinctions. This Dharma wheel turned by the Blessed One is supreme, unambiguous, and of definitive meaning, not a basis for debate. Thus it is said. From the *King Requested by the Lord of Mantras Sutra*: 'Son of good family, just as a skilled jeweler who knows well how to use gems, takes an impure gem from among various kinds of precious gems, washes it with strong salt water, and then thoroughly cleanses it with a hair brush. He does not abandon his effort there, but then washes it with strong food juice and thoroughly cleanses it with woolen cloth. He does not abandon his effort there, but then soaks it in the juice of great medicines and cleanses it with thin cotton cloth. Having been thoroughly cleansed and free from impurities, it is called a great beryl gem. Son of good family, similarly, the Thus-Gone One, knowing the impure realm of sentient beings, causes beings who delight in samsara to become weary with words of impermanence, suffering, selflessness, and impurity, and introduces them to the noble Dharma discipline. The Thus-Gone One does not abandon his effort there, but then causes them to realize the state of the Thus-Gone One with words of emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. The Thus-Gone One does not abandon his effort there, but then speaks of the wheel of non-retrogression.'

Through speech that completely purifies the three wheels, those sentient beings who possess various natures of causes are made to enter the realm of the Tathagata. Thus it is said. Secondly, the commentator, the root Maitreya's incarnation Asanga, explained the meaning of the later sutras. First, those trainees attached to samsara are encouraged by the words of renunciation to enter the path of peace; then, they are fully matured into the Mahayana by the words of emptiness; and finally, by the words of the irreversible wheel, they enter the realm of the Tathagata and obtain the great prophecy. The noble Asanga quoted the text of the *Distinguishing the Teachings* from the *Compendium of the Mahayana*, making the final wheel the definitive meaning of the ultimate, and Vasubandhu and others also followed suit. However, the brothers Asanga did not say that the intermediate wheel was provisional, but specifically stated in the root and commentary of the *Exposition of Valid Cognition* that it was definitive. The great chariot master, the glorious Dharmapala, also explained from the perspective of consciousness-only that both wheels are definitive. The noble Nagarjuna made the three practices of the *Sutra of the King of Dharanis* definitive, and the noble Aryadeva did the same. Therefore, the Tibetan scholars also had no choice but to accept that it is in accordance with the three times of the beginning, middle, and end of the *Samdhinirmocana Sutra*, because that is how it actually is. Later commentators, those who hold the true lineage of Maitreya, do not go beyond this system. Chandrakirti, who explained Nagarjuna's treatises, did not make the distinction of the three times of beginning, middle, and end, but only distinguished the definitive and provisional meanings of the essential points of the sutras taught by inexhaustible wisdom. Due to not having examined this meaning as it is, many nonsensical talks about the definitive and provisional meanings and superiority and inferiority have arisen among the Tibetan scholars regarding the middle and final wheels. As mentioned above, although the other aspects of the eight distinctions of definitive and provisional meanings mentioned in this sutra, both the middle and final wheels equally belong to the category of definitive meaning, however, the eighth, selflessness, Chandrakirti only regards the emptiness of the two selves as definitive, which was well distinguished by the brothers Asanga and their followers, and examined by those who understand its meaning.
