Like obtaining certainty, these are known as the five limbs of conjunction. Furthermore, in the extensive commentary on the Mirror of Poetics (Kāvyādarśa) composed by Acarya Ratnashri, the conjunctions are explained as five: Gate, Response Gate, Essence, Intolerable, and Certain Attainment. Among these, Proximate Acquisition, Proximate Need, Perfect Establishment, Complete Craving, Awareness, Attainment, Equanimous Abiding, Accomplishment, Finding, Differentiation, and Making Differentiation are the limbs of the Gate. Complete Going, Complete Trembling, Affliction, Play, Radiance of Play, Excellent Going, Contradiction, Proximate Dwelling, Impurity, Initiating the Establishment of Beings, and Gathering Letters are the limbs of the Response Gate. Giving Examples of the Unarisen, Gathering the Sequence of Analogies for the Nature of the Path, Inference, Arousal, Investigation, Piercing, Excess Power, Disillusionment, and Agitation are the limbs of the Essence. Attack, Scattering, Leaking, Power, Mutual Abiding, Clarifying Beings, Distinguishing, Obstruction, Contradiction, Taking, Deception, and Extreme Craving are the limbs of the Intolerable. Conjunction, Obstruction, Expansion, Determination, Clarifying Blame, Extreme Purity, Universal Joy, Time, Proximate Concealment, Explaining Former Thoughts, Compiling Poetics, and Self-Manifestation are the limbs of Certain Attainment. Thus it is stated. Secondly, concerning the limbs of entrance/action, there are four: Bharari (Bhāratī), Satvati (Sātvatī), Kaishiki (Kaiśikī), and Arabhati (Ārabhaṭī), each having four limbs. Among these, the four limbs of Bharari (Bhāratī) are: Excellent Abandonment, Universal Gate, Garland, and Making. The four limbs of Satvati (Sātvatī) are: Extreme Placement, Complete Transformation, Possessing Speech, and Reversal. The four limbs of Kaishiki (Kaiśikī) are: Play, Clarification, Initiating Play, and Engaging in Play. The four limbs of Arabhati (Ārabhaṭī) are: Condensation, Universal Falling, Temporary Abiding, and Universal Dispersion. These are the limbs of entrance/action. Thirdly, the divisions of characteristics. From the extensive commentary: Ornament, Letter, Condensation, Beauty, Example, Right Conjunction of Cause, Limit of Vision, Attainment, Conspicuous Nobility, Word.

Detailed exposition, definitive term, accomplishment, differentiation, exemplary qualities, excellence, analogy, compilation of words, teaching, close demonstration, thorough analysis, inversion, experience, guidance, garland, offering, censure, power of meaning, perfect accomplishment, question, arrangement and inclusion, hope, part, summary, proclamation of qualities, self-evident accomplishment, joyful expression—these thirty-six (modes) are explained. Furthermore, there are the branch of grace, the branch of garland, and other connecting branches, etc. All of these are expressions of dance: expressions of extreme anger, expressions of being tormented by attachment, expressions of suffering from sorrow, expressions of wonder from amazement, etc. These are made to be experienced as if directly perceived, based on bodily and verbal expressions related to past historical narratives. The extensive definitions of these are too lengthy for this writing and should be understood elsewhere. In brief, although bodily and verbal expressions, even repeated many times, become enchanting dances that evoke joy or emotional experience in all beings who see and hear them, and the art of drama is renowned as a great wonder in the Noble Land (India), treatises on it have not appeared in the Land of Snows (Tibet), nor is it closely necessary for those seeking liberation. Therefore, similarly, one should learn all the bodhisattvas' actions that please sentient beings (168a): Without understanding how to please sentient beings, There is no other way to please the Buddhas. So it is stated. Chapter 3, the third main topic, the exposition of the ordinary worldly path, has two parts: 1. General exposition, and 2. Specific differentiation. 1. The first is: Ordinary people contemplate only the happiness and suffering of this life, Those whose minds are transformed by philosophical tenets possess a path. Many correct and incorrect views exist. From a hundred lower ones, only one or two higher ones exist. In summary, there are two: external and internal. That is to say, generally, among the categories of sentient beings, those who do not engage in any understanding or investigation of the circumstances of knowable things and the future beyond this life, but merely comprehend the acceptance and rejection of happiness and suffering solely in this life, are called ordinary people. Those who have transformed their minds through philosophical tenets and investigate knowable things... (text truncated)
