For example, referring to copper and so on as iron; this is the fourth (type of naming). The third type is names that are the opposite of both similarity and connection: such as referring to the planet Mars (Gza' Mig Dmar) as "auspicious" (Bkra Shis), and referring to the *karaṇa* (Byed Pa) Vishti (Biṣṭi) as "good" (Bzang Po), and so on. Chapter Two: [Explanation of the principles of specific Abhidhana]: One word, many meanings; one meaning, many words: One should understand the realm of Abhidhana (terminology) and the meanings of words. The words explained in this way also involve a single word referring to many meanings. For example: From the Amarakosha: Kaḥ refers to Brahma, wind, and sun; Kaṃ refers to head and water. And so on. Indra, Guggulu, owl, And snake-catchers, are all referred to as Kauśikaḥ. And so on. Artha refers to object, wealth, word, meaning, And purpose, as well as the opposite. And so on. Antaraṃ refers to opportunity, interval, Lower garment, concealment and distinction, its meaning, Flawless, outside, my own/of self, Occasion, middle, and to whomsoever. And so on. Svasti refers to aspiration, happiness, and collection of merit. (166na) And so on. By Nagarjuna: Speech, direction, earth, and rays of light, Cattle, eye, and vajra, Heaven and water – for these nine meanings, The wise definitely understand 'go' (Go Sgra). And so on, like these. Furthermore, from texts such as *Abhidhana Mutig Trengwa* (Lexicon Pearl Rosary) and *Pel Dra Nye Ma* (Glorious Ear of Sound), countless [examples] appear, and there are very many such in Sanskrit. Even in the Tibetan language, the name 'born twice' (Gnyis Skyes) refers to the moon, Brahmins, birds, and so on. And 'sky-goer' or 'dakini' (Mkha' 'Gro) refers to accomplished yoginis, women born in Uddiyana (O Rgyan) and other pure lands, the sun, birds, and also arrows, and so on. This should be understood broadly. An example of one meaning having many names: From the Amarakosha: High realm, inexhaustible, free from suffering, Good abode, Trayastrimsha, abode of the three realms, World of gods — these are synonyms for "high realm" or "heaven." Omniscient, Sugata, Buddha, Dharma King, Tathagata, Samantabhadra, Bhagavan, Vanquisher of Mara, Jina, Conqueror of the World, Possessor of Six Abhijñā, Possessor of Ten Powers, Speaker of Non-duality, Guide, Sage King, Glorious/Abundant One, Teacher. These are [synonyms] for Buddha.

...very many such appellations. The meaning or reason for these terms, whether it be the root form (བྱིངས་ཀྱི་ཁམས་) in Sanskrit or the meaning of the word in both languages (Tibetan and Sanskrit), must be understood. For example, in Sanskrit, the word “བུདྡྷཿ” (Buddha) is formed by combining the root “Buddhi” (བུདྡྷི་) which means “to awaken” or “to understand,” with the suffix “kta” (ཀྟ་རྐྱེན་) which denotes a completed action or state. Thus, it signifies “having awakened from sleep” or “having realized all knowable phenomena as they are.” Similarly, in Tibetan, the great translators of the past, based on its meaning, rendered it as “སངས་རྒྱས་” (Sanggye). Furthermore, (166b) Because one awakens from the sleep of ignorance, And wisdom expands upon all knowable phenomena, Buddha blooms like a lotus. This needs to be inferred by associating it with its definitive meaning. Fifth, Drama (ཟློས་གར་): The five junctures and the limbs of entry, Sixteen characteristics, charm, garlands, and so forth, Similar to drama imbued with the taste of joy, Learn all conduct that delights sentient beings. Regarding explanations of drama, since the explanations of Tibetan fabricators are mostly inaccurate, they are not followed. The teachings given by Omniscient Tsongkhapa (ཀུན་མཁྱེན་བསྟན་པའི་ཉིན་བྱེད་), after examining Indian texts and dramatic compositions, provide a partial indication of the tradition: Generally, drama has three core meanings: the limb of juncture, the limb of entry, and the classification of characteristics. First, regarding the limb of juncture: it is for connecting the different categories of meanings to be expressed, which must be spoken in various languages. Among these, the gate juncture (སྒོའི་མཚམས་སྦྱོར་བ་) refers to the juncture of question and answer, which is dialogue. There are many ways to engage in mutual questioning and answering. Essence (སྙིང་པོ་) refers to, when sometimes many words are exchanged between parties as if in deliberation, and at the end, a resolution is made and finalized, that is called essence. Intolerable (མི་བཟོད་པ་) refers to, through words that reveal one's flaws, one is struck by one's own defects, thereby acting intolerantly or being tormented by attachment and acting in an unbearable manner. That which causes certainty (ངེས་པ་ཐོབ་བྱེད་) refers to, after many expressions filled with doubt, the ultimate meaning…
