Or divided into four transmissions: Alternatively, the Heart Son Gyalwa Döndrub, the lineage holder Tongde Ngag gi Wangchuk, the mind-son Dröldé Gyalwa Jungné, and Khugom Chökyi Sengé – these are the four Heart Sons. Drogtsa Gyen (page 193a), Palden Gyen, Sonam Gyen, Rinchen Gyen – these are the four Daughters (or female disciples). Kyemé Gayan, Phonyön Sengé, Nyönpa Rangnang, Dolpa Zangthal, Zhigpo Hurthön, Kalden Sengé, Gyagom Harthön, Jetsun Zilnon – these are the eight Peers (or equal disciples). Summarizing these, with the sixteen principal great disciples as the main figures, along with one hundred and eight male and female accomplished practitioners (siddhas) and many other assemblies of students, the entire land of Tibet was filled. Among them, the eldest son of the Sutra lineage holder Langlungpa Gyalwa Döndrub, named Tsewang, had three sons. The second son, known as the Mantra lineage holder Thönyön Samdrub, an unparalleled accomplished practitioner, had twenty-one male and female students and eighteen female accomplished practitioners. From here, the unique "Gangpa" Chöd lineage emerged. Furthermore, from Khugom Chökyi Sengé, the holder of the Zungjug (Union) lineage, the transmission was solely through accomplished practitioners, from Drogön Sangye Tönpa to Zhönnu Drub. Thereafter, the lineage tradition greatly expanded, and Je Rangjung Dorje (the Third Karmapa) also received teachings from Namtsoba Mikyö Dorje and composed texts. From this stream, the Rupa Chöd lineage and later the Zur Mang lineage emerged. Moreover, from Nedo and Jetsun Kyasé Togden, the Kyabche Chöd lineage emerged separately, and from each of these distinct lineages, countless branches proliferated. The long lineage of the Daughters, the Gyalthang close lineage tradition. Including the collected treasure Chöd from Künpang Tsön Seng and others, The wondrous and vast enlightened activities continue perpetually. In addition, there is the long lineage sequentially transmitted from Machig's daughters to her ladies-in-waiting. Gyalthangpa Samten Özer received the long lineages of peaceful Chöd, wrathful Chöd, and mixed peaceful-wrathful Chöd. By traversing one hundred perilous places, he personally met Machig (page 193b) at Ojo Lhatsé in Upper Tsang and received her blessings. He recorded the profound essence of her heart teachings, which became known as the close lineage of the Gyalthang tradition. Moreover, many profound teachings were not disseminated to the disciples but were hidden as treasures.

From the profound and vast cycle of Chöd (severance) teachings, revealed as treasure (terma) by the venerable Repa Chyekhu Gom Kyewa Künpang Tsöndrü Sengge and by Adüs Dorje Drönma, who is an emanation of Machig Labdrön herself: The former's lineage, the Chöd lineage transmitted by Indian masters, continues unbroken to this day, and the miraculous activity of Chöd is astonishing due to its profound methods. Its vastness is evident in its widespread dissemination throughout the entire Land of Snows (Tibet). To this day, all unbiased spiritual friends have taken it to heart, and it is indispensable for subduing those difficult to tame, both external and internal, thus it has been continuously maintained. Generally, in the vernacular of this oral tradition, it is said: “The main body is outlined by four pairs and eight branches, and its greatness is expressed through six examples.” Firstly, if divided by the requesting person (or lineage holder), there are two: male lineage and female lineage. If divided by nature (essence), there are two: systematic (scriptural) and scattered (non-systematic). If divided by the manner of its widespread renown, there are two: early propagation and later propagation. If divided by the manner of its emergence, there are two: canonical (Kama) and treasure (Terma). Thus, the four pairs (types of classification) arise as eight branches. Some also say that the eight pairs are further divided into sixteen branches: male Chöd and female Chöd; canonical (Kama) and treasure (Terma); Indian Chöd and Tibetan Chöd; Sutra tradition and Tantra tradition; son lineage and meaning lineage; sky Dharma and earth Dharma; systematic and unsystematic; scattered and supplementary. Among these, the first (male Chöd) is the six Bru Ritsa (practices) transmitted from the holy ones, the three cycles of Lazhar, and so forth. The second (female Chöd) is the cycle of Phagmo Chöd (Vajravarahi Severance) transmitted from Machig (Labdrön), great and small commentaries, and so forth. The third (canonical) is that which has continuously descended from the Great Mother Prajnaparamita (Yum Chenmo) and the principal one of the doctrine (Buddha Shakyamuni). The fourth (terma) includes the Udumbara (cycle) brought forth by the holy ones from Vulture Peak Mountain (Rajgir, India), and the Mahamudra Chöd (194 verso) brought forth from Drepung Stupa (Drepung, Tibet), and so forth. Also, those hidden by the wrathful deity (Khroma) and revealed by Machig (Labdrön), and those hidden by Machig (Labdrön) and revealed by the lineage holders. The fifth (Indian Chöd) includes the great and small Indian treatises of Aryadeva; Tilopa's Five Nails of Equal Taste (Ro Nyom Zer Nga); Naropa's Secret Conduct (Sang Chö), and so forth. The sixth (Tibetan Chöd) is the cycle of Chöd that originated in Tibet. The seventh (Sutra tradition) includes the Thirty Dharma Texts (Chötsen Sumchu), and so forth. The eighth (Tantra tradition) includes empowerments, generation stage, and completion stage practices based on the Four Tantras of Tara (Drolma Gyüd Zhi). The ninth (son lineage) is the transmission from Gyalwa Döndrup, Thödmyön, Khambu Yalé, and Gyanné Zhi.
