Excellent! The great Vajra bliss, meaning the supreme four accomplishments, has manifested. The compilation of those who appeared in succession thereafter is: Yeshe Zhap and Marme Dze Zangpo, Langka Gyal Zang and Pal Dzin Bhaba Lha, Kalden Drakpa and Lila Vajra, Mitub Dawa and Damtsig Dorje, Dezhin Shek Sung and Jangchub Zangpo, And these twelve named Pema Sungwa, Are masters praised for their wisdom and conduct. Thereafter, the Six Gate Scholars and others, And various Tantric masters appeared. As stated by the Great Venerable One (Jetsun Chenpo). The Six Gate Scholars are: These scholars guarded the monastery with reason and power against the attacks of non-Buddhists and others. They are: The all-knowing Ratnakarashanti (Shantipa), the guardian of the East Gate during the time of debate; Sherab Jungne, the guardian of the South Gate; Ngak Gi Wangchuk Drakpa, the guardian of the West Gate; Naropa, the guardian of the North Gate; and the first central pillar, Brahmin Rinchen Dorje, and the second, Jnanashrimitra. Each of these six became an unrivaled great scholar. They repelled all attacks by non-Buddhists, composed many treatises on Sutra and Tantra (page 134), and through many wondrous deeds, guided the people of that time to the Dharma, making the general teachings of the Sugata, and especially the Mahayana teachings, shine like the sun. Jowo Je Dipamkara Srijnana primarily upheld the teachings at Vikramashila (now Antichak village, Bhagalpur district, Bihar, India) and Otantapuri (now in Bihar, India). Relying mainly on Suvarnadvipin (Serlingpa), he cultivated the excellent Bodhicitta. His qualities as a scholar and accomplished master, and his deeds in propagating the teachings, are renowned as being no less than those of the previous masters. He was skilled in all Tantra sections and attained the qualities of the Path of Seeing. Many Vajradharas, such as the great Pitopa, emerged as his disciples. Especially in the land of snows (Tibet), his kindness and enlightened activities were exceptionally great. Abhaya served as the abbot of Vajrasana (now Bodhgaya), Vikramashila (now Antichak village, Bhagalpur district, Bihar, India), and Nalanda (now in Bihar, India). At that time, he became an unrivaled great master of the teachings, extensively propagating all the teachings of both Mahayana and Hinayana, especially the doctrine of Prajnaparamita, making it extremely flourishing.

阿巴雅(Abhaya)的弟子,如殊巴卡拉古普塔(Subhakara Gupta)等,以及许多精通金刚乘(Vajradhara)和严守戒律、通达浩瀚经论(scriptures as vast as an ocean)的人,都使教法得以阐明。

After the era of the Six Ornaments, among the Six Scholars, there was Rin 'byung zhi ba (Ratnakarashanti). It is renowned that from these two categories of masters (referring to the Six Ornaments and Six Scholars), the benefit for the teachings and sentient beings was not extensive. However, (a master) having been blessed by Vajrayogini and granted empowerment, also composed many profound and extensive tantric treatises such as the commentary on Samputa, Mansnye, and the three cycles of garlands. The treatises composed by this (master) became like life-sustaining nectar for us, later generations. It is renowned that after this, no great scholar clarifying the teachings, comparable to this (master), emerged. Moreover, knowing that such (scholars) would not appear, (this master) clearly explained what was unclear, collected what was scattered, and arranged what was confused into order. Thus, the well-explained treatises (folio 134b) were left for later generations as if they were oral instructions. Among the many Vajradharas and upholders of vows, who had crossed the ocean of scriptures, such as Abhaya's disciple Subhakara Gupta, clarified the teachings. In particular, the accomplished master Ratnarakshita composed commentaries such as the commentary on the *Dom 'byung* (Vinaya-udbhava, 'Arising of Vows'). When (he) served as a tantric master at Vikramashila Monastery, the twenty-four renowned Mahantas (Great Accomplished Ones) also appeared, and they greatly propagated the teachings of Vajrayana. Third, a brief discussion of the present and future: Within the eastern Kokila and the southern Abhigje, In the Tantric regions, and in some small countries in the southeast and southwest, The Buddha's teachings will endure until later times. In the three divisions of eastern India, monastic communities existed in the Kokila region from around the time of King Ashoka, and later they gradually grew and became very numerous. Before Vasubandhu appeared, there were only Shravaka (Hinayana) teachings there. Some of Vasubandhu's disciples propagated Mahayana, and it continued for a short period without interruption. From King Dharmapala onwards, in the central region (of India), there were very many scholars of these (Mahayana teachings). Especially during the time of the "Four Sen" (Sen bzhi), about half of the monastic community gathered in Magadha came from the Kokila region. Therefore, Mahayana became extremely widespread, and like in the realm of Tibet, there was no longer a distinction between Mahayana and Hinayana. From around the time Abhayakara appeared,
