As it is said, it becomes completely pure. Second, the extensive explanation has three parts: explaining the six aggregates, explaining the immediately following afflictive conditions and mind, and explaining the causal condition, the Alaya consciousness. The first of these also has four parts: identifying the six aggregates, identifying the objective condition, identifying the immediate condition, and explaining from where these arise. First, what is meant by knowing the six aggregates is, as it is said. In this regard, firstly, what are the six aggregates of consciousness that take and hold grasping? They are the eye consciousness that grasps form, the ear consciousness that grasps sound, the nose consciousness that grasps smell, the tongue consciousness that grasps taste, the body consciousness that grasps touch, and the mind consciousness that grasps phenomena, these six. Second, from the objective condition to the six, it is said. These six consciousnesses cannot be established as inherently existent by their own nature, but arise dependent on the four conditions. That is, firstly, they rely on the objective condition, and because there are six objects to be perceived, the perceiving consciousness also becomes six. And what are these? They are form, etc., from sound, smell, taste, touch, and phenomena, which are known as categories of objects or meanings, these are the six. Generally speaking, they can be summarized into aggregates. The causal form is the element of earth, water, fire, and wind, that is, the four great elements. The resultant form is the five faculties and five objects, totaling ten, which are transformed from the four great elements. And non-manifest form, totaling eleven. Here, the explanation is about the five objects, such as form, which become the objects of the eye. Regarding their detailed classifications, it is said in the Abhidharmakosha: Form has two types, totaling twenty; sound has eight types; smell has four types; taste has six types; touch has eleven self-natures. And things that are distracted and without mind, those who follow virtue and non-virtue, those who take the great elements as their cause, that is non-manifest form. And so on, there are detailed classifications. Phenomena have two types: conditioned phenomena and unconditioned phenomena. Are there eight of each of these? The classification of the three types of unconditioned phenomena, etc., should be understood from elsewhere. Third, from the immediate condition to purity, it is said.

The main cause of the six consciousnesses is the six unimpaired faculties, namely, the eye faculty like the utpala flower, the ear faculty like the tip of a kusha grass, the nose faculty like copper needles placed side by side, and the tongue faculty like a half-moon shape. These faculties are considered to exist within their respective bases, while the body faculty, like the skin with a soft touch, is said to pervade the entire body. All five faculties are tangible and clear, capable of generating the ability to perceive objects. The meaning of "tangible" is that they arise from the aggregation of minute particles or the four elements. The meaning of "clear" is that, like a mirror clearly reflecting images, other particles cannot obstruct its own position, and it is connected with consciousness, thus clearly manifesting the object. It is said that this is also related to the inner seed or ability. In the *Compendium on the Great Vehicle*, it is asserted that the apprehended aspect of the ālaya-vijñāna appears as the five faculties, but there is no contradiction in all of this. The mind faculty refers to the immediately preceding mind element, as well as the differences in the abilities of the ālaya-vijñāna, and so on. But in reality, the mind faculty is the door through which mind consciousness arises, and can be understood as the mind-born (105), because the dharmas, conditioned and unconditioned, are born from it, and these two are mutually dependent as object and subject. The fourth is, both depend on. It is said, thus, the six objects and six faculties, that is, both object and subject, arise from the mind, and apart from that, they do not exist in ultimate truth. So, what is this appearance? This appearance of outer objects and inner faculties is, from beginningless time, due to the power of ignorance, grasping the non-duality of grasper and grasped as existent, and the seeds of this habit are stored in the ālaya-vijñāna, and it appears relying on the awakening of that. Although outer objects appear to the five consciousnesses such as the eye, namely, forms, sounds, smells, tastes, and tactile objects, they cannot distinguish whether this is a pillar or a pot. As it is said in the scriptures, the eye consciousness can only recognize blue, but not that it *is* blue. Therefore, first the sense consciousnesses perceive the objects, and knowing their differences is the mental factor of attention. Therefore, among the mental factors, the conception that grasps the characteristics of objects, form
