All of these, such as word meanings, signifiers and signifieds, and the ways of distinguishing between aggregates and elements, are mentally constructed. Because they appear as methods of understanding things and the things being distinguished without any connection between them, they are the completely imputed. The other-powered also has two aspects. The impure other-powered is: due to the power of various habitual tendencies, various appearances of outer and inner vessels and contents arise, including the object, meaning, and body. The object is the five objects such as form. The meaning is consciousness, which arises from other causes and becomes the eight aggregates of consciousness. The body is the aggregates of appropriation. These depend on other causes of karma and habitual tendencies, so they are called other-powered. The pure other-powered is the extremely pure realm and wisdom, etc., which are examined from the aspect of temporarily relying on the power of eliminating obscurations. The thoroughly established also has two aspects. The first is the unchanging thoroughly established: it is the alaya of the meaning of reality, the luminous nature of the dharmadhatu, the tathagatagarbha. As the Uttaratantra says: 'As it was before, so it is after, the unchanging suchness is thus.' The Sutra Ornament says: 'Although there is no difference between before and after, this suchness is purified.' The Dense Ornament Sutra says: 'On this essence, the name alaya is imputed and spoken.' That is what it refers to. Above that, there is beginningless ignorance, which is the root of all afflictions. Because it is not cut off in one line, the unlabelled part is called the alaya of various habitual tendencies. Its nature is non-conceptual and does not grasp at objects. If one is accustomed to this state, one has the karma to be born in the formless realm. Some immaculate Mind-Only proponents believe that this is the same as non-conceptual consciousness, so they summarize it as mind and do not accept alaya, etc. The real meaning alaya is accepted, and the alaya consciousness is the consciousness that is not mixed with the five sense consciousnesses and the mind, it is clear. If one is accustomed to this state, one has the karma to be born in the form realm. They use this as the basis for distinguishing this consciousness. They say: the mind is unlabelled. The five sense consciousnesses that arise from it are eye consciousness, etc., consciousness outside

Although the appearance of phenomena is similar to the way it arises in the inner consciousness, and the functions of the respective sense faculties are established as five, the experiencer is none other than the self-illuminating self-awareness, without duality of object and subject. This is the assertion. Mental consciousness arises after the five senses and is the consciousness that engages with internal and external phenomena. Afflicted mind refers to the arising of any of the three: attachment, aversion, or indifference, after deliberation, and manifesting as the three or five poisons of affliction. The Mind-Only school, which speaks of the diversity and non-duality of phenomena, asserts that by combining the mental consciousness and the afflicted mind into one, they accept the seven aggregates, including the base consciousness (ālaya-vijñāna). In their treatises, it is said that mind refers to the base consciousness, which is considered to be the retinue of the non-conceptual five sense consciousnesses. The consciousness that arises after these, along with the retinue of the fifty-one mental factors that grasp at "I" and "mine," is considered to be the mind, that is: Mind is the base consciousness's form of consciousness. The one grasping at "I" is the mind. So it is said. It also agrees with what is said in the Treasury of Knowledge (Abhidharmakośa): "Whatever consciousness there is, immediately after the cessation of the six, that is the mind." For example, it is possible to simultaneously perceive the sound of a bee, the fragrance of a flower, the tactile sensation, and the taste when seeing an উৎপལ་ (藏文, Devanāgarī, utpala, meaning: blue lotus), because the non-conceptual five sense consciousnesses apprehend the object at the same time. At that time, the non-conceptual clear aspect of consciousness is merely the base consciousness. When joy or sorrow arises in an instant upon perceiving an object, it manifests as deliberation and discrimination. Therefore, after the non-conceptual clear appearance of the five senses, the base consciousness, and the sixth consciousness ceases, the grasping aspect, which is the conceptual mental consciousness, arises only one moment at a time, and two cannot arise simultaneously. This is called mind. Although from the perspective of the non-conceptual transforming into the conceptual, the six consciousnesses are considered to have ceased, in reality, each consciousness, including the sense consciousnesses and the base consciousness, remains in its own state without diminishing from its respective nature or aspect. For example, the aspect of seeing form is always eye consciousness, and its nature is non-conceptual, so sound and so on can also be measured and understood in this way. The perfectly established reality, which is not inverted, includes the uncontaminated path and its result, because it is truly going and, having reached the place to go, does not return. These details should be understood through the great treatises that include scriptural authority. Second, the individual assertions of the establishment are: consciousness
