Now, just as it is said, "The path should be shown," recite the dedication, aspiration, and auspicious words, and then summarize this ritual. This ritual is specifically taught for those who belong to the disciples of the Great Perfection of Naturalness. Because it is more profound and sublime than the seven-day rituals taught in common secret mantras, those who are to be Vajra Masters of this Dharma should put it into practice. Eighth, indicating other uncommon places is divided into two parts: a general explanation of the yogi's way of dying, and a detailed explanation of how the elements dissolve. First, according to the faculties, there are three ways of dying: inferior, intermediate, and superior. The inferior die like ordinary people, as described above. When they are sick, they also consult witches and doctors, and perform various rituals, which is a sign that they have not seen the true nature of the sublime Dharma. Relying on divination, astrology, medicine, and fortune-telling is no different from heretics. Then, at the time of death, they are also surrounded by relatives, disciples, and friends. After death, they also do good deeds, mourn, and wail, and perform seven-day rituals and cremations, etc. This is the ordinary way of dying for beginners, without even a trace of Dharma, just like ordinary people. The intermediate and superior should be examined in this way: if they do not die in this way, they are not true yogis. Among them, dying like a deer, a lion, a beggar, and a child are the ways of dying for intermediate yogis. Those who like to die without obstacles die in solitary places. For example, like a female deer dying in a mountain cave where people do not pass, or in an empty valley, or in a remote place, or in a secluded monastery. If the yogi dies without being seen by anyone, it is a sign of being free from all fear. Dying like a beggar, for example, like a beggar who is unknown, dying in a garbage heap, a street, a road, or a shop, etc. If the yogi also dies in this way, it is a sign that attachment to the world has disappeared and that he is practicing in the realm of Dharma. Also, like a child, dying in a state where no one knows whether he is dead or alive. The yogi is also like this, after delusion has disappeared, he no longer calculates anything, and has no fear of the causes of death, the place of death, or death itself, and no joy in not dying, etc., nothing.

Dying like a wild animal is a sign that the illusionary phenomena have ceased. There are four ways of dying for the excellent ones: like a dakini, a vidyadhara, a fire, and the sky. When a yogi of excellent diligence disappears without a corpse, it is like when a dakini does not die, no one sees the corpse. This is a sign of attaining Buddhahood without a bardo. Another excellent yogi, in order to teach others, disappears in the middle of a sphere of light in the sky, accompanied by sound and light, visible to all. This is like when vidyadharas rise from one level to another, they go into the sky with their corpses, accompanied by sound and light, visible to all. This is a sign of benefiting beings with inconceivable emanations in inconceivable realms, like the great powerful yogi Jetsun Senge Wangchuk. The way of dying for a yogi who has perfected practice is like a great fire that dies out when the fuel is exhausted. When the cause, the elements, is exhausted, the coarse corpse disappears without a trace, which is a sign that the afflictions are liberated in their own place. For example, in Tsari, the two mothers of Dampa Gyer emitted light from a cave and went into the sky. When the vase of the body of particles breaks in the original purity, they merge into one without before or after. This is like dying into the sky. It is like the sky that separates matter in the appearance of the body. Realization of original purity abides in the clear light of the heart within the body. When a pot is broken, the inner and outer skies merge and cannot be distinguished. When the particles of the body disappear, one cannot distinguish which is the corpse and which is the awareness within it, and thus Buddhahood is attained. This is a sign of thorough liberation in the state of original purity. Of these, the ways of dying into the sky and like a dakini are ways of dying in which the particles of the body disappear, and liberation is achieved through original purity and trekchö. The ways of dying like a fire and like a vidyadhara are ways of dying in which liberation is achieved through tögal and lhundrup. Where do such ways of dying come from? They are signs of unwavering faith in self-existing great perfection, of not accepting common tenets, and of understanding its meaning, because one sees the meaning of manifestation with one's own eyes.
