Fifth, regarding Rigpa, there are five aspects: essence, definition, classification, characteristics, and result. The essence is what appears as the Vajra Chain, as it says in "The Lion's Perfect Strength": "That which is the object of self-appearing Rigpa, abides in the Wisdom Chain." The definition is: previously not knowing, it is known through the guru's instructions, therefore it is Rigpa. There are three classifications: Base-abiding Rigpa is the actual meaning of the base object, transcending good and bad, faults and virtues. Path-appearing Rigpa is renowned in various schools, such as Mind-essence, Unborn, Co-emergent Wisdom, Beyond Intellect, the All-ground of Meaning, and Bodhicitta, etc. Whatever name is given, it pervades all Buddhas and all sentient beings, each having their own wisdom, self-luminous, empty and clear, nakedly and clearly visible. Breakthrough Rigpa is the manifestation of the Vajra Chain body, freed from the confines of mental thought and words, without the clarity or obscurity of good and bad, faults and virtues. If one diligently looks at it without distraction, one will achieve the light body, completely transparent. The characteristic is: this self-luminous, naked, and transparent thing itself. The result is: by practicing this, one is liberated into the original purity and transparency. Generally, the three Kayas are considered the result, but here it is used as the path, considering the great liberation of original purity, not accomplished as body and wisdom, the plan not ceasing, like crystal, as the result, so there is a great difference. The signs of accomplishing such Rigpa are, as it says in "The Burning of the Body Relic": "Whoever is familiar with Rigpa, these are the signs on their body. To whatever object is entrusted, they can insert their own awareness into it. Wherever they sit, the body also follows. How it is the same as Rigpa itself, able to transform the faith of others, thoughts and attachments naturally cease, possessing inner signs. Whoever directly realizes this, this is in their own place of origin, those with fortune are satisfied with this, attaining the supreme accomplishment of the unborn." And as it says in "Refutation": "After practicing in this way, the signs and measures are like this: the body is light and appears transparent, without touching the ground, without obstruction, the power of speech is complete, words are exhausted, the mind is able to transfer. The eyes, ears, nose, tongue, all the senses of the body are exhausted, the nature

There is no limit anymore. Thus it is said. Third, by explaining other differences in signs, to grasp well all the stages of the path, there are three: generally showing the sign of attaining non-birth, specifically explaining the sign of qualities, and separately stating the differences of the three signs mixed together. First, for the yogi who is completely confident in the realization of primordial purity, the sign of no longer taking birth in samsara is that there are no living beings on the body, and hair and nails do not grow. Then, after three months, others can see, in the center of the five lights, transforming into the body of the five Buddha families, appearing in the sky and then disappearing. From the burning remains: Whoever with unborn, whoever with, from the root cuts off, that person, such signs will also appear. Whoever possesses this sign is equal in fortune to me. Worms, lice, etc. on the body, all of these have cut off the continuation of birth. Whose hair and nails, all of these do not grow, the continuation is exhausted, this is unborn. Having such signs, even after three months, this will naturally purify, no longer appearing with contaminated aggregates, one's own body in the center of light, transforms together with the family. Thus it is said. This is the yogi of great fortune at the time of exhaustion. Second, praising its qualities, the qualities of the appearing body and speech, and the immeasurable qualities of non-existence, the emptiness of awareness, in the self-appearing Buddha land, enjoying the mandala of both peaceful and wrathful deities and the qualities of the Dharmakaya. From that it says: Such a realized person, the qualities of existence and non-existence are inconceivable. The wisdom abiding in one, showing itself, is a great teacher. The effortless, spontaneously present awareness light abides in itself, from the nature of skillful means and wisdom, also appear the two Buddha families. All of these appear as his retinue. From the basis of self-appearing non-nature, it appears as unspeakable, unthinkable, inexpressible Dharma. In the equality of the three times, originally all of these abide in themselves. Thus it is said. Third, there are cases where only one sign is present, or two are mixed, or all three are present. If the sign of the body is complete, one is liberated in the bardo. If the body and speech are present in any way, having the sign of the body and the sign of speech, one is liberated in the Nirmāṇakāya realm. If the sign of the mind is complete, one is liberated in the bardo in three instants, all three
