is unwavering faith. The first three are: the body abides without clinging to action, therefore the illusion of samsara will not increase; the extension and contraction of the limbs cease, therefore the wheel of illusion is cut off; placing action on the ground, one is certain to be separated from the ripening of accumulated karma. The second three are: the breath does not go out and abides, therefore there is no harm from different circumstantial appearances; it does not fill inward and abides, therefore there is no basis for different thoughts; there is no coming and going in and out and abides, therefore the basis for grasping at samsara and nirvana is emptied. The third, the abiding of appearances, the three are: the light does not flicker and abides, therefore it is recognized as not turning back in the three realms; awareness does not flicker and abides, therefore the limit of karma and ripening is exhausted; the body does not tremble and abides, therefore the impurities of the body will naturally be exhausted. At this time, the four signs of the body reach the standard, which arises from obtaining certainty on the basis of the four empowerments. The four standards of speech are reached, which arises from certainly obtaining the path of the four empowerments. The four standards of mind are reached, which arises from the manifestation of the fruit of the four empowerments. Moreover, at the time of the manifestation of dharmata, the body is like a turtle placed in its shell, which arises from the slow abiding of the body's channels. Now, the meaning of Dzogchen, free from action and effort, enters the limbs of the body, because the karma of the vase empowerment is purified, therefore the wisdom with elaboration will surely arise naturally. At the time of increase, the body becomes like a sick person afflicted by illness, which arises from the breath entering the central channel, the meaning of Dzogchen without negation and affirmation enters the entire body, because the karma of the secret empowerment is purified, therefore the wisdom without elaboration arises naturally. At the time of reaching the standard, the body is like an elephant sinking into the mud, which arises from the mind touching the channels and breath, the meaning of Dzogchen without acceptance and rejection enters the heart, because the karma of the body is purified by the wisdom empowerment, therefore the wisdom without extreme elaboration arises naturally. At the time of exhaustion, the body becomes like a dakini caught in a net, which arises from the mind entering the net of clear light, the meaning of Dzogchen self-liberation equality enters the eyes of the body, because the karma of the body is purified by the word empowerment, therefore extremely without elaboration

That is the spontaneous arising of wisdom. These are approximate representations through metaphors, but in reality, they are signs that the confusions of the body are naturally purified. The letters of the signs and measures refer to the general meaning, and Vimalamitra said, "These are the meanings that arrive in person." The basis of speech is also like the four appearances and the order. Speech disappearing like the form of a mute arises from consciousness entering the channels. This is because the subject matter of Dzogchen, self-purification, enters the symbol of speech, cutting off external elaboration and appearing in the state of inner wisdom. Speech appearing like the rambling of a madman arises from the self-nature purity of the words of Dzogchen. From the entry of the definitive liberation of the words of Dzogchen into the sound, the meaning without elaboration is determined within. Speech appearing like fragments of a clay pot falling from between rocks arises from the accumulation of compassion under the power of wisdom. Because the meaning of Dzogchen, which transcends speech and thought, enters the transformation of speech, the limit of clinging to utterly non-elaborate words is cut off. Speech appearing like the form of an echo in a valley arises from the letters of the root place entering the bindu of wind. Because the meaning of Dzogchen, which cannot be expressed, enters the sound of speech, it arises from completely abandoning elaboration, transcending the object of expression, and leaving it as it is. Speech is metaphorical, and the meaning is inexpressible. The four signs of mind should also be understood like the four appearances and the order. Mind disappearing like a dakini caught in a net arises from the merging of awareness and luminosity. Because Dzogchen, self-liberation without grasping, enters the appearance of mind, it arises from the completion of the power of elaboration. Mind disappearing like a person poisoned by poison arises from the liberation of mind in the realm of non-arising. Because Dzogchen, unborn self-liberation, enters the place of arising of mind, it arises from the completion of the power of non-elaboration from the beginning. Mind disappearing like a person cured of leprosy, without recurrence, arises from mind grasping the completely pure wind. Because Dzogchen, primordial liberation without recurrence, enters the place of abiding of mind, it arises from being utterly non-elaborate, self-appearing, and self-liberating. Mind, like an arrow piercing the heart of a person,
