Regarding the detailed explanation of self-nature, there are five aspects: essence, definition, nature, dharma-nature, and boundary. Among them, the essence of the exhaustion of dharma-nature is: the appearance of the five external lights, along with the body, is exhausted; the internal, substantial thoughts, along with their aggregates, are exhausted; the objects of experiential appearances are exhausted; and awareness abides in the state of primordial purity, like the sky. As stated in the Thal 'gyur (lit. "Collapse"): "The appearance of the exhaustion of dharma-nature is when the appearance of experience is emptied, the body is exhausted, and the objects of the senses are also exhausted. Having been liberated from the confusion of thought aggregates, one is separated from the words of the subject matter." The definition is: chos (法, dharma) refers to the dharma of the collection of body, speech, and mind, along with afflictions; nyid (性, -ness) refers to the appearance of the path that purifies it, along with the aspect of luminous meditation; zad pa (穷尽, exhaustion) means emptiness, the mind's meditation, along with the appearance of objects, returns and disappears, and is called unobtainable. As it says itself: "Thus, the definitive meaning of dharma-nature: chos (法, dharma) knows collection and aggregation, actions, agents, and characteristics are held, when self-appearance is shown, each of their kinds are held. Nyid (性, -ness) refers to that which is uncorrected, abiding in a relaxed state, reality pervades, original, primordial, ordinary, the number of sounds, words, and names is exhausted." The nature is: the exhaustion of internal and external appearances and thoughts, like the blue light of the sky, only enjoying the self-light of primordial purity. As stated in the Tsal Dzogs (lit. "Perfected Power"): "The characteristic of exhaustion at this time is that it is non-action, like the sky." There are two types of dharma-nature. The dharma-nature of appearance is: the exhaustion of internal and external substantiality causes the channels and winds to be exhausted. That exhaustion causes the latent tendencies that rely on the mind, the subtle stains of all arising characteristics, and even the seed aspects to be exhausted. Abiding in continuous samadhi, one does not transcend the wheel of dharma-nature. Having mastered the eye and great clairvoyance, one obtains power in the three realms as the regent of the Dharma King. Except for the subtle obscuration of the alaya consciousness, the obscuration of knowledge, which is cut off like a thin white veil, there is no obscuration. It is called the fruit of the exhaustion of the dharma of the path. Having cleared it away, one enters the state of Buddhahood, free from all obscurations, entering the primordial purity dharmakaya of inner space, completely pacified. As stated in the Thal 'gyur (lit. "Collapse"): "The dharma-nature of self-awakening clarity is that the elements are clear, causing substantiality to cease. After dust and the finest particles have finally ceased, not even a part remains. Afflictions are clear, causing confusion."

And, because there is no clinging that is separate from conceptualization, latent habits and all arising, not even a particle remains. Thus, through the purification of subtle and coarse, the five aggregates also eventually become subtle. After the body composed of the four elements is exhausted, everything is the wisdom complete body. The non-conceptual samadhi abides in its own nature, and because it transcends artificial dharma, the word "dharma" does not exist. Thus it is said. The dharmata of emptiness is that when the coarse channels and winds are exhausted, the mind and mental factors are exhausted, and the appearance of body and wisdom is complete like a full moon, it also dissolves into the inner space and abides in the appearance of primordial purity. The appearance of the dharmakaya, that is, the self-appearance of the dharmata of the fruit, is called: Again, from the previous text, the dharmata of cause and effect is that when the source of coarse conceptualization is cut off, from the continuum of self-purification of memory, the wind of dependent origination itself is completely pure, it is the dharmata arising from the cause. In the self-nature that is pure from the beginning, the number of one and many is exhausted, there is no body and wisdom, and the dharmas have reached the place of exhaustion, it is considered to be the dharmata of the fruit. Thus it is said. Also, because of misunderstanding these three later words, the Nyingtigpas arose who believed that there was no body and wisdom in the original purity of the fruit. That is a big mistake. For the part where the body and wisdom of the outer manifestation of light return to the inside like crystal light, saying that is just not understanding that intention. In reality, if it does not exist in the inner space, it contradicts spontaneous accomplishment, because it is unconditioned, it contradicts later non-existence and complete disappearance, it contradicts the benefit of sentient beings arising from the manifestation of body and wisdom from the inner space, and it contradicts Samantabhadra's base realm of purity reaching the ultimate, showing the path to sentient beings and Buddhas, compassion and activity, etc., there are many faults. It is not appropriate to admit such faults. The fifth is the boundary: When it exceeds completion and begins to exhaust, the fingers of one's four limbs have five kinds of light appearing. From this time on, there is a boundary between entering the inner space and returning to the outer manifestation. That is, if this time the form of the body does not actually widely benefit sentient beings, then focus awareness on the light of the fingers. The outer manifestation and the luminosity of one's own body gradually dissolve into the inner space, and the direct reality appears as blue.
