Regarding the detailed explanation of other dharmas, there are two aspects: distinguishing them individually through definite examples and differentiating them specifically through definite meanings. The first begins with fifteen pairs of similarities. First, when the ground of awareness is the same: the enlightened Buddha is self-liberated on the ground, like a head; sentient beings who are not enlightened are deluded, like horns. As it says in 'Self-Arisen': 'Son of lineage, the introduction to the examples is as follows: the example of Buddha and sentient beings is like the head and horns, arising from one to many.' Second, the essence (dbyings) is the same, and when awareness arises, it is liberated in its own place, like drawing a picture on water, liberated on the ground. Due to non-awareness, it becomes the source of delusion, like water turning into fire. Again, it says in the same text: 'The example of awareness and non-awareness is like water and a drawing, dependent on conditions.' Third, although the nature of the essence (dbyings) does not go beyond the same essence, when the power of awareness, like water, manifests, the mind appears like a water bubble. Since the mind does not arise from awareness, it is not under its control. It says in the same text: 'The example of mind and awareness is like water and a bubble, not controlled by the mind.' Fourth, awareness is one, and wisdom is the non-inverted manifestation of its own power, liberated from grasping and clinging, like gold. The mind (yid) is the inverted manifestation of power, giving rise to grasping and clinging, like copper. The similarity lies only in awareness, appearing to measure objects. It says in the same text: 'The example of wisdom and mind is like gold and copper, the colors are indistinguishable.' Fifth, in the same essence (dbyings), the alaya is like a boat, floating in the state of dharmakaya, which is like an ocean, manifesting as the obscurations, paths, or powers of the dharmakaya. It says in the same text: 'The example of alaya and dharmakaya is like the ocean and a boat, giving rise to the path.' Sixth, delusion and liberation are both the same in the realm of basic awareness, but it is like a person falling asleep and waking up. It says in the same text: 'The example of delusion and liberation is like falling asleep and waking up, because there is a difference in the senses.' Seventh, the appearance of delusion and the appearance of the ground are both the same in the realm of awareness, but like self-radiance being daytime and deluded radiance being nighttime, there is a difference between clarity and non-clarity. It says in the same text: 'The example of the appearance of delusion and the bardo is like darkness and light, because there is a difference between purity and impurity.' Eighth, realization and non-realization are the same in awareness, but whether the clinging of delusion is cleared away or not
