That is, clarity is the body of appearing objects, and the body of assembled purities. The first is what appears to the senses and has no affirmation or negation, divided into three: the senses, the aggregates, and the body of completely pure objects and subjects. It says in that very text: "The body of clarity appearing to objects is the great body of completely pure senses, the great body of completely pure aggregates, and the great body of completely pure realms, sense bases, objects, subjects, and afflictions." The second is the body of assembled purities, which appears to those who have transformed familiarity into strength, divided into two: the body that perfectly and unerringly holds its own characteristics, and the body of primordial suchness, where the characteristics of light and form are indistinguishable in color. The first is: because the essence, nature, and compassion hold the characteristics of the path, they cause the result to reach perfection, hence the names great playful body, great all-encompassing body, and body that follows the lineage. As it says in the Union of Sun and Moon, the body that holds its own characteristics is like this: the non-discriminating great playful body, the sublime great all-encompassing body, and the body that follows the lineage. The second, the body of primordial suchness, has three: ground, path, and result. The ground is the body of self-arisen wisdom that has always been present. The path is the body of light, radiance, and space, which only appears outwardly from the beginning and does not change. The result is the three bodies spontaneously accomplished, the body that has reached the exhaustion of space. Again, it says in that very text: "The body of primordial suchness is like this: the body of the first abiding from the beginning, the body that never changes from the beginning, and the body of self-perfected result." The body of self-perfected result has three: the dharmakaya, the great body without elaboration; the sambhogakaya, the great body without grasping; and the nirmanakaya, the great body without self. Second, the detailed explanation of the distinctions has two parts: briefly stating the essence and elaborately explaining the aspects. The first is from the Self-Arisen Wisdom Sutra: "What body is that? The root is the body of clarity, the expanse is the body of dharmata, the vastness is the body of space, the unchanging is the vajra body, the immutable is the body of essence, the body of true bliss, and the perverted is the body of mind."

I, the body of seeing liberation, the body of the single bindu, the body of uninterrupted space, the body of impartial sun and moon, the body of the single non-different, the body of unattached self-liberation. Secondly, if asked what the nature of these thirteen bodies is, it is explained again in the same text: It is like this: the body of fundamental awareness is the body of the Vajra Chain, which is clear when one's own eye faculty has not ceased. This is called the body of fundamental awareness. The vast body of Dharmata is the original ground, the great primordial purity, without thought, without ignorance, without mind, without consciousness, without grasping. It is like this: uninterrupted wisdom, spontaneously accomplished Buddha, Dharmata free from elaboration, awareness free from extremes, the appearance of great purity, abiding in impartial view. It is vast, clear, unchanging, wisdom unceasing, bindus radiating in various ways, unchanging Dharmata, the outer realm not collapsing, the inner five lights of wisdom clear and unceasing, abiding in the essence of body and wisdom. This is called the vast body of Dharmata. The expanding body of space is the lamp of completely pure space, which is uninterrupted, impartial, without decrease, without increase, without emptiness, without fullness, possessing clarity, the place where many bodies appear, the nature of all vastness, extremely great and unsurpassed, the Buddha seen by view, the ground of attaining certainty. This is called the expanding body of space. The unchanging Vajra body is the fruit without Buddha, the samsara without sentient beings, the Buddha who cuts off life, the arising without action, the object never seen, the word never known, the body never taken, the virtue of cutting off life, the deity without practice, the essence uncounted, the meditation unmeditated, the mandala unpainted, the accumulation unaccumulated. This is the unchanging Vajra body. The unchanging body of essence is the unchanging doctrine, the uncertain reason, the nature without duality, the view seeing the side, the meditation seeing, the action without doing, the fruit without attainment, the samaya without keeping, the play ceasing.
