Even one who has perfected the best of faculties will not experience suffering, hatred, and so on. Even during the time of practice, the appearance of wisdom will be clear without ceasing. This is called a special quality. Common qualities are attained like this: knowing the language of the ḍākinīs, blessing the ḍākinīs, being seen by people as a place of veneration through blessing, loving all beings, having a beautiful and pleasing form, greatly increasing merit, and even after death being born as the body of a universal monarch, like a precious jewel, great qualities arise, like a lotus, practicing pure Dharma, like a stupa, being seen as worthy of being surrounded by all, like an umbrella, subduing ordinary beings, like a fire, being able to liberate beings with wisdom, like a sword, being able to accomplish purposes, like a vajra

It cannot be done like that. As it says in "Self-Arisen": The faults of not receiving empowerment are as follows: In the bardo, one will feel fear, terror, depression, obstruction, and even lose consciousness. Even until one has not abandoned the body of habitual tendencies, one will not be seen as worthy of respect by sentient beings, one's merit will be small, one's lifespan will be short, one's enjoyment of life will be meager, one will often encounter verbal abuse, and many obstacles will arise. All activities will be unsuccessful. This is the fault of practicing secret mantra without receiving empowerment. Yogis who practice secret mantra should receive empowerment. If one does not receive empowerment, even the Buddhas will not be able to turn the wheel of Dharma in the realm of the Tathagatas. If the wheel is not turned, the compassionate emanation body will not be able to benefit sentient beings. Therefore, those who practice secret mantra should receive empowerment. Third, the places where empowerment is given are: secluded and pleasant places where accomplishments are easily attained. Here, the general place is an auspicious place with good geomancy, such as a good forest, etc. There are four specific places: A place with elaboration, if the student's body is earth, then a place that is open to the south and supported by the north. If it is water, then a place that is open to the east and supported by the west. If it is fire, then a place that is open to the west and supported by the east. If it is wind, then a place that is open to the north and supported by the south. A place without elaboration is: In the midst of a dense forest, choose a mountain valley that matches the student's element, and observe its shape and signs. For a place that is extremely without elaboration, the top of a mountain peak where three valleys converge is the best. For a place that is very without elaboration, it is an extremely secluded place or monastery, that is, a place that is a yojana away from the village. For the place of all four empowerments, a place where other beings are frightened, where fierce wild animals dwell, where there are venomous snakes, vultures, jackals, etc., and where the dakinis are very unruly, a charnel ground is the most auspicious. As it is said in "Perfected Natural Arising": This sacred empowerment has been taught. In the center of large towns and cities, yogis cannot accomplish their aims. At the edge of towns and cities, or in forests, mountains, rocks, and empty valleys, yogis engage in the purpose of empowerment. Also: In a place that is extremely secluded and delightful, the characteristics of the place should be examined. Villag
