Regarding the number of appearances, it is also held that the number of consciousnesses is the same; it is held that appearances and consciousness are like a cracked egg; and it is held that appearances and consciousness are diverse and non-dual. Among these three views, the first is that, just as when hearing a sound, only the consciousness that grasps the sound arises, and the consciousness that grasps forms and so on does not arise, the consciousness of whatever object is engaged arises, and others do not arise, therefore it is held that however many appearances there are, there are that many consciousnesses. The second is that, the external appearances that appear in various ways also arise from consciousness, and the consciousness that grasps them also arises from mind, therefore, like a cracked egg, appearances and consciousness, object and subject, appear in the same mind. Now, when grasping an object, one consciousness of external appearance and one consciousness of internal grasping appear, although they appear as two due to beginningless habits, there is no establishment other than self-awareness, therefore it is like a cracked egg. If so, when one consciousness of external appearance arises, and at that time one consciousness of grasping arises, wouldn't two thoughts arise simultaneously? They do not arise, because the consciousness of appearance is non-conceptual. The third is that, although the appearances of external objects appear in various ways, they are known by one consciousness of internal grasping, just as a monkey quickly enters a castle, and the neck becomes blurred from looking around in four directions, one consciousness enters the five gates and knows the objects. Even at the time of knowing, both appearance and consciousness are non-different in the nature of the same mind, just as the appearance in a dream and the grasping that appears as itself are non-different in the consciousness of the same sleep. Second, appearances are false: regarding the appearances of external objects, the habits of false appearance in consciousness are false, but they are not true for consciousness, and the consciousness that measures it is also measured by falsehood, but there is no measurement by true experience, both object and consciousness are considered to be merely the nature of illusory falsehood. Dividing this, there are those who consider it to be false with defilements, and those who consider it to be pure without defilements. The first is that, the appearances that appear in various ways now, and the consciousness that measures them, are both merely appearances of the mind's defilements, in reality there is only the quality of the wisdom realm that is non-dual, and there is nothing established as consciousness.

The Dharmakaya of the Buddha, the Nirvana without remainder, is the very wisdom of non-duality, it is the stainless Suchness. In the state of Nirvana with remainder, because there is a slight impurity of habitual tendencies, it appears as a mistaken appearance, and there are things like showing back pain and illness. Now, it is believed that in the state where afflictions and wisdom are mixed in the mind, removing the false part of the afflictions will manifest the pure wisdom without remainder. The pure ones believe that neither the appearance nor the consciousness are established even as mere falsehoods. Because of strong attachment, just like being accustomed to thinking about something from a young age, so that without having to think, the appearance of its face appears clearly. Therefore, the appearance of various colors of objects, and the mind that measures, both appear as if they exist, but in reality they do not, like a reflection in a mirror. Only the wisdom of each individual's self-awareness that experiences its meaning is ultimately existent. This is their view. Second, the Madhyamaka school is divided into Svatantrika and Prasangika. First, the Svatantrika believes that not only are the various appearances and the immeasurable wisdom merely clear appearances, but also that the self-aware wisdom of each individual is inherently empty of essence in reality. If we divide this, there are those who believe that illusion is ultimate, and those who believe in non-abiding. First, it is believed that it is not established in the object and the subject, and the unestablished self-aware wisdom is inexpressible, inconceivable, and exists ultimately in the manner of illusion. Therefore, through the merit of meditation, the paths and bhumis are attained, and the ultimate result is the attainment of the illusory wisdom of the Buddha, and in the state of Dharmakaya, one benefits beings in an illusory way. As it is said in the Middle Mother Sutra: All phenomena are like dreams and illusions, and Nirvana is also like dreams and illusions. If there is a Dharma that is more excellent than Nirvana, that is also like dreams and illusions. All phenomena refer to all kinds of objects and consciousness. Nirvana refers to benefiting beings after attaining the Rupakaya. The Dharma that is more excellent than that refers to the Suchness of each individual's self-awareness and the pure Dharmakaya. They believe. Regarding this, there are those who believe that illusion is truly established, those who believe that illusion appears as illusion, and those who believe that it is merely illusion, and so on, there are many kinds.
