Regarding the instruction that is determined by ground and measure, it is divided into two parts: indicating the distinctions of the basis, space, and wisdom, and indicating the actual measure. The first part has three aspects: the basis, the path, and the result. First, the space-wisdom of the basis is: the collection of five lights in the heart is the space; the sound of the continuous thread residing in the light channels is the wisdom. As it is said in the "Lion's Perfect Strength Sutra": The space-wisdom abiding in the basis, the space-wisdom appearing on the path, and the space-wisdom that leads to the end. There are two aspects of the space-wisdom of the basis: the space is the lamp of space, and the wisdom is clear as a continuous thread. Thus it is said. The space of the path is the enclosure of five lights, and the wisdom is the arising of the appearance of the body within it. As it is said in the same text: The space-wisdom appearing on the path is: the space is the circumference of light, and the wisdom is explained as the appearance of the five bodies. Thus it is said. The space of the result is the self-appearance of primordial purity, like a cloudless sky, and the wisdom abides in that space as merely an intention to dissolve inwardly. As it is said in the same text: The space-wisdom that leads to the end is: the space is the appearance of self-nature, and the wisdom is indicated as body and essence. Therefore, it is said to be space and wisdom. It is extremely important to distinguish this key point of space-wisdom. Second, the actual measure is: again, as it is said in the same text: The secret meaning of determining wisdom is: when appearances are in fragments, the wise should thoroughly examine them. When they are extremely subtle and moving, one should thoroughly settle them through familiarity. When they are flickering, minute, and moving, one should thoroughly grasp them through seeing. When they are round, minute, and intertwined, the wise should stabilize unwavering samadhi. When they are full, blazing, and smoky, one should grasp the expanding appearances through familiarity. When they are truly all-pervading, the wise say one should gather the appearances. When there is no attachment or clinging, the wise should know the method of grasping. This is the characteristic of familiarity with secret mantra. Thereafter, when wisdom moves, the five elements dissolve, and that wisdom without attachment, when it goes to the realm of appearances, having seen the unmistaken appearances, having seen the truth of familiarity, it is said to be like the union of light and appearance. Thus it is said. Also, when those appearances of the path appearance dissolve into the inner space-mother, the five actual elements such as warmth, heat, and coolness also dissolve into the space. The five elements dissolve into the mother, wisdom dissolves into the space, knowledge

The so-called "pervading the sky, moving in the realm of wisdom" refers to the determination of the time and extent of the view. These explain the increasing of the nature of wisdom. The third general meaning is the detailed explanation of other special dharmas, which is divided into two: distinguishing by determining metaphors, and distinguishing meticulously by determining meanings. The first is fifteen pairs of similar bases. First, on the point that the base is the same in awareness, the enlightened Buddha is naturally liberated on the base, like the head; the unenlightened sentient beings are deluded like horns. As it says in "Self-Arisen": "Son of lineage, the introduction to the metaphors is as follows: the metaphor of Buddha and sentient beings is the form of head and horns, arising from one to many." Second, on the point that the realm is the same, awareness is naturally liberated at the time of awareness, like drawing lines on water, liberated on the base; due to ignorance, it becomes the source of delusion, like waves on water. As it says again in the previous text: "The metaphor of awareness and ignorance is the form of water and lines, relying on conditions." Third, the realm of essence has not been surpassed, but when the ability of awareness like water manifests, and the mind manifests like a water bubble, the mind does not arise from awareness, therefore it is not controlled by it. As it says in the previous text: "The metaphor of mind and awareness is the form of water and bubbles, the mind is not controlled by it." Fourth, awareness is the same, wisdom is the undeluded manifestation of its own ability, liberated from grasping and being grasped, like gold; mind is the deluded manifestation of ability, giving rise to grasping and being grasped, like copper, the similar base only appears to measure the object in awareness. As it says in the previous text: "The metaphor of wisdom and mind is the form of gold and copper, the colors cannot be distinguished." Fifth, on the point that the realm is the same, the alaya is like a boat, floating in the state of the dharmakaya like an ocean, manifesting as the obscuration, path, or ability of the dharmakaya. As it says in the previous text: "The metaphor of alaya and dharmakaya is the form of ocean and boat, the path arises from this." Sixth, delusion and liberation are the same in the realm of basic awareness, like a person falling asleep and waking up. As it says in the previous text: "The metaphor of delusion and liberation is the form of falling asleep and waking up, because the senses have differences." Seventh, delusion appearance and base appearance both appear the same in the realm of awareness, but self-appearance is like daytime, and wrong appearance is like nighttime, there is a difference between clear and unclear. As it says in the previous text: "The appearance of delusion and the middle"
