Each is explained clearly in order. From the constant self-appearance of purity, awareness itself becomes the object. Thus it is said. The definition is: From Self-Arising, "Because of the twenty-one faculties, it is called individual discrimination." Thus it is said. And from the Decisive, "'Individual' means distinction, arising as an antidote. 'Discrimination' means seeing the characteristics, along with the increase of self-appearance. When wisdom first arises, wisdom purifies the faults of affliction." Thus it is said. There are five divisions. From Self-Arising, "The wisdom of individual discrimination and the wisdom of thoroughly distinguishing all things, two. The wisdom that arises in an instant of discrimination and the wisdom that completely eliminates all sounds, two. The wisdom of discriminating without dwelling on sounds and words, five." Thus it is said. The meaning of these is: From the same Tantra, "The doubt that appears in the mind is dispelled, is the wisdom of individual discrimination. Gathering various things into one, from which distinguishing, things appear, is the wisdom of distinguishing things. Not exceeding the meaning of discrimination, liberating in three instants, is the wisdom that arises in an instant. Transcending the nature of sound, word, and awareness, because it is complete in one expression, is the wisdom that eliminates all sounds. All sounds and words are complete in meaning, words disappear into the realm of awareness, is the wisdom that does not dwell on words." Thus it is said. For the wisdom of accomplishing activity, there are also essence, definition, and three divisions. The essence is: After self-benefit is accomplished in the state of awareness, benefiting others arises spontaneously and effortlessly like a jewel. From the Decisive, "So-called accomplishment of activity, is when effort and striving naturally cease, all dharmas naturally abide and are naturally liberated. From the ground appearance of natural liberation and completion, obtain freedom from subtle particles and impurity. It transcends the realm of discrimination and analysis, it is the nature of dharma that has not been separated by anything." Thus it is said. And from Self-Arising, "The wisdom of accomplishing activity, whatever appears is complete in the state of awareness." Thus it is said. The definition is: From the Decisive, "Because self-nature is complete, the limit of appearance is exhausted. Because of instantaneous discrimination, it is activity. Because of accomplishment, for those without desire, there is no repetition or reversal. 'Ye' is the meaning of abiding itself. Because of wisdom, having become manifest, it reaches the place where all dharmas are exhausted." Thus it is said. There are five divisions. From Self-Arising, "The wisdom of accomplishing activity and the wisdom of all activities, two. Not dwelling on activity

wisdom, and the wisdom of abandoning activity. The wisdom of cutting off superimpositions, and so forth, are five. The meaning of these is stated in that very tantra: 'Liberated from the Dharma of holding self-awareness, Transcending the name of imputed terms, Is the wisdom of accomplishing activities. Rays of compassion radiate in the ten directions, In order to accomplish the benefit of beings through emanations, Is the wisdom of performing activities. Abandoning activity in the unchanging state, Which transcends the Dharma of characteristics, Is the wisdom of non-abiding activity. When awareness is clear without thought, And knowing is naturally relaxed, Is the wisdom of abandoning activity. All the outer, inner, and secret Dharmas, Gathered together in the expanse of awareness, Is the wisdom of cutting off superimpositions.' Thus it is. The third topic, the extensive explanation of the wisdom of the all-pervading Nirmanakaya, has two parts. In the 'Decisive Explanation' it says: 'The wisdom that encompasses all knowable things Should be understood as twofold.' Thus, the Nirmanakaya that appears to those to be trained is not like an empty, insubstantial image, but rather spontaneously accomplishes the benefit of beings through two kinds of wisdom. Knowing things as they are, it unerringly knows the essence of all Dharmas; realizing the ultimate truth, it reveals the Dharmata, like the sky, free from the elaboration of arising and ceasing. Knowing things as many as they are, it knows the aspects of all Dharmas without confusion; realizing the conventional truth, it teaches about the senses, objects, actions and results, the path, and so forth, using the eight similes of illusion. Thus, among the two kinds of wisdom, the wisdom of knowing things as they are also has three aspects: essence, definition, and division. The essence is unerringly knowing the reality of all Dharmas. In the 'Decisive Explanation' it says: 'The wisdom of knowing things as they are is explained. In the Dharma of appearance, free from elaboration, The pure image of self-appearance is clear. In knowing the reality of things, The stream of confusion is exhausted by realizing one's own benefit.' And in the 'Six Spaces' it says: 'Through the wisdom of the compassionate aspect, Which knows knowable things as they are, One knows the reality of one's own things.' Thus it is. The definition is: In the 'Decisive Explanation' it says: '"As" refers to reality, Practicing with unwavering view. "Knowing" is complete because there is no cessation, "Is" is what has become the path, Having reached the limit through knowing.' Thus it is. The division is: Knowing the reality of the appearance of phenomena, and the Dharmata, emptiness.
