It is impossible to avoid after nineteen days. If the white lion does not descend from the various sides of Mount Meru, it will be devoured by demons within sixteen days. If the trunk of the wish-fulfilling tree is broken at the boundary between the mountain and the plain, these should also be observed by the wise. If the water of the ocean turns into clouds and dissipates, this should also be distinguished by the wise in sequence. In the cities of the land, if the smoke of the ascetics disappears, they will die in nine days. On the summit of Mount Meru, if the unchanging sun becomes turbid, it will also die in three days. Completely abandon the rituals and contemplate the meaning of the essence of self-awareness. If the sound of the dakinis disappears from the interior of Mount Meru, they will die in thirteen or five days. If the demon of the Lord of Death arises from the wish-fulfilling tree, it will be devoured by demons within seven days. That will not be of any help, cherish the habit of emptiness. Possessing the essence of emptiness and clarity, possessing the essence of clarity and awareness, awareness possessing the palace of light, cherish the habit of the four lamps. Thus it is said. The ritual of averting death also says in the radical change: If it is bad, just dispel it; if it is good, pray to the supreme guru. Thus, for the common and individual methods of dispelling, it is taught in the form of oral instructions, and as a support, one should believe in the scriptural authority. In the "Union of the Sun and Moon Sutra," it says: If such signs appear on the body, then the ritual of averting death is taught. When a practitioner begins the action of dispelling, he should please his own guru, the sangha, and the special fields of accumulating merit with wealth and offerings, and begin these rituals. In order to equalize the sounds of the elements, on the leaves of the Tala tree, the wheel of the five elements has four spokes, a center, and a circumference. The wheels of earth, water, fire, wind, and space are made into five, and the colors should be distinguished by the elements. On the center and the five spokes, write their respective five letters. The circumference is surrounded by a collection of A-kars. Having written the wheels in this way, make offerings, praises, and confess sins. Pray for whatever each one desires. In the center, contemplate the deities of the elements, recite the number of letters, and absorb them. Then, in a pair of closed vessels, put all the wheels in, and bind them crosswise with five colored threads. Wood, water, fire, and earth, for the breaths of different kinds, mix those together with tsampa, and make a form one cubit long. For the five faculties, write five letters.

Write it on paper, boil it, and then put it in. This will restore the imbalance of the elements. If possessed by a demon, make a dough figure of the same age as the deceased, changing its color. Use pieces of your own dirty clothes, as well as corresponding elemental substances, and mix them with the dough to make the figure. Decorate the figure with wool, dyes, silk, and feathers. Also, make tormas similar to the figure. Finally, the dough figure is circled around as many years as the yogi's age. Bless it and say these words: Take it, take it, powerful beings! Release, pacify, and liberate craving, attachment, infatuation, memory, grasping, thought, and touch. Repeat these words three times. Then, send it to the river. To avert death, there is no doubt, Nārakan. Thus it is. The appearance of death is the activity of the chakra energies of how the individual elements dissolve. As it says in the tantra itself: When disease afflicts a person's body, whoever shows these signs, the time of death has come. Earth dissolves into earth, water into water, fire into fire, wind into wind, each dissolving into itself, these will occur in a person's body. When earth dissolves into itself, the body becomes heavy, unable to eat, and the strength to stand and walk is exhausted. When water dissolves into water, saliva and nasal mucus drip. Similarly, when fire dissolves into fire, the mouth and nose become very dry, and the warmth at the extremities of the body is lost. Similarly, when wind dissolves into wind, breathing becomes rapid, limbs tremble, and the eyes roll upwards. Whoever shows these signs will not remain here, but will certainly go to the next life. Therefore. The yogi's instructions should be imparted to the fortunate ones at this time. If one has clear understanding oneself, that is sufficient, so one should remember at this time. Taking either of the two key points of entering the place and abode, and entering the body and wisdom, as the path. The first is transference of consciousness, when the last breath goes out, visualize from the heart a deity filling with light, with five-colored rays, or visualize it as a white Āḥ (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ, Devanagari: आः, Romanized Sanskrit: Āḥ, Literal meaning: Ah), extending upwards from the aperture of Brahma, and by reciting twenty-one stacked "Hik" (Tibetan: ཧིཀ, Devanagari: हिक्, Romanized Sanskrit: Hik, Literal meaning: Hik), one will certainly be liberated. The second is, understand by assuming one of the three sitting postures, or the lion's lying posture.
