In the place of Dags is the birthplace. O Dakini, that is your birthplace! The sky is dim and there is no wind. The clouds are dark and boundless. Or there appears a mist. Dim, unpleasant. Who has created the formations of life? This is the abode of animals. Extremely fierce winds stir. The black clouds are the image of destruction. Violently stirred, accompanied by coming and going. Emitting the tongues of thunder and lightning. The sun and moon cannot appear. To whom does this happen? This is the birthplace of the Asuras. The sky is clear and bright. The light of the sun and moon is clear. The wind and hail cannot appear. This is the birthplace of the gods. Or the sky is clear and bright. The clouds of the human realm are like white silk. Appearing very thin and wide. Or the sun and moon have halos. To whom does this happen? This is obtained by the birthplace of humans. Thus it is said. In the Treasury of Precious Words and Meanings, the explanation of the ninth Vajra Place, which is the order of determining signs and measures, is extensively completed. The tenth Vajra Place, the practice is extensively explained like a king's palace. Next, in the Bardo (intermediate state), how to establish the key instruction of recognizing self-appearance as the lamp of wisdom is taught in two aspects: the general classification of the Bardo and the detailed explanation of their respective natures. The first part has three aspects: classification, boundaries, and modes of appearance. There are four classifications, as stated in the Root Tantra: "There are four classifications." Namely: the Bardo of Nature, the Bardo of Dying, the Bardo of Dharmata, and the Bardo of Existence. Regarding the boundaries, the first Bardo of Nature begins from leaving the mother's womb and ends when struck by the disease of death. The Bardo of Dying begins from being struck by the disease of death and ends when the inner breath ceases. The Bardo of Dharmata begins from the cessation of breath, the arising of clear light in an instant, and ends when the spontaneous appearances dissolve. The Bardo of Existence begins from the dissolution of spontaneous appearances and ends when the mind-made body wanders unimpeded and enters the mother's womb. After entering the womb, it is the next existence. There are four modes of appearance. Regarding the modes of appearance of the Bardo abiding in Nature, there are also two aspects: general presentation and specific explanation. The first also has three

Due to the power of individually establishing habitual patterns on the base of the ālaya, fundamental ignorance appears in the mind as grasping and being grasped. The five external objects appear as the aspect of objects. It appears as the body. It appears as happiness, suffering, and the neutral feeling of joy and sorrow. It appears as the five poisons of afflictions such as attachment, and because it appears to revolve from one to another, it is called the general appearance of the three realms. From that, the ways in which different places and types appear are too numerous to express, but if we categorize them, the six are objects, the body, and happiness and suffering. Mostly, they are combined from the respective parts of shared karma, so there are six types of beings. Due to their respective shared karma, from the abodes and happiness of the gods, to humans and asuras, etc. For all of these, there is nothing that is consistent in one thing. Even just water, gods see it as nectar, etc. Just a cloud, even the Paranirmita-vasavartin gods cause rain of jewels and flowers to fall. For the Thirty-three and the Four Great Kings, it is a rain of nectar. For humans, it is water. For animals, it is something that is completely tormenting, only fit to drink. For pretas, it is a rain of pus and blood. For hell beings, it is seen as a rain of burning embers. From the two truths: "One thing, minds are different, therefore, it is seen as not accomplished." So it is said. Those things do not have other truly established things in the external world, so they appear as different. That is also because of the different karmas of each. As it says in the Bodhicaryāvatāra: "Who made the iron burning ground? From where did these masses of fire arise? The Buddha said that all such things are created by sinful minds." Like that. Among those, what appears as particularly strong for individuals is that the beings of those different places and types, some are happy, some are suffering, and some are in a neutral state. The way they appear is also that gods hold one gift as three separate things: enemy, friend, and neutral. Some people's food appears as poison to others. Some people's appearance appears as darkness to others, and so on. There are many internal disagreements. These are also transformed from their respective karmas. As it says in the Dharma category of the Noble Jewel Heap Sutra: "Karma does various things, so it is like a painter." Like that. Specifically, the bardo abiding in its own nature is bound by the five aggregates, so the appearance of the five kayas naturally ceases, as well as the elements and sources of birth.
