If it is so, one will see the lamp of emptiness. If one becomes truly stable in it, one will see the bindu with form. If one is not distracted from its meaning, illusory appearances will be seen as the Sambhogakaya. All those appearances of form are like illusions, like rainbows. If one becomes very stable in it, there is no day or night. For example, like the eyes of a female jackal, there is no day or night. The self-appearing mandala is also like that. All those appearances of form are not appearances of external objects. For example, like a young boy seeing his own face appear in a clear mirror. In the natural space of Dharmata, the appearance of wisdom arises as form. This is seeing one's own nature. Thus it is said. Secondly, from practicing the indivisibility of space and wisdom, first, the measure of seeing arises, in the middle, the measure of habituation, and finally, the measure of stability. From the Lamp Illuminating: The measure of practice is threefold, namely, the measure of seeing, the measure of habituation, and the measure of stability. The measure of seeing is light, the unchanging blue is the measure of the Dharmadhatu, round and clear is the measure of the lamp, subtle and moving is the measure of wisdom, one should know that this is the measure of seeing. The measure of habituation is threefold, from the blue arise five colors, appearing about a cubit long, this is the initial measure of habituation. Then, becoming very familiar with it, only the shape of a rainbow appears, this is the very habituated measure. Then, like a region, this is the most habituated measure. When all appearances appear as light, the measure of habituation is completed. From the round and clear arises a silk pattern, if it appears on the tip of one's nose, this is the initial measure of habituation. Then upwards to the space between the eyebrows, becoming clear like a mirror, this is the intermediate measure of habituation. All appearances appear as bindus, remaining still and stable, this is the most habituated measure. If one looks at it again and again, like a bee circling nectar, staying in the place of looking, this is the most habituated measure. The measure of very accurate habituation, is without movement or trembling, and without the appearance of day or night, this is the very habituated measure. Self-arisen form appearing like a rosary, in the spaces like joints, in the bindu like a mustard seed, the form appears very subtle, appearance

When everything dawns as body, that is the measure of the stability of awareness. When earth, water, fire, wind, and appearance, the appearances of the four elements, cease, and the light of the five colors appears wherever one looks, that is the measure of the stability of space. When one's own body is on top of light, like a stack of millstones, and the stacked bindus rise upwards, that is the measure of the stability of the lamp. Thus it is said. Third, the instruction on ascertaining the manner of appearance is most precious, and the appearance of space-awareness should be cherished at all times. From "Lion's Perfected Prowess": When appearances are fragmented, the wise should examine them thoroughly. When they are extremely subtle and flowing, through habituation, one should settle into them thoroughly. When they are flickering, subtle, and flowing, one should thoroughly grasp what is seen. When they are round, subtle, and swirling, the wise should stabilize unwavering samadhi. When they are flickering, burning, and appearing in clumps, through habituation, one should grasp the expansion of appearances. When appearances are truly universal, the wise say that one should gather appearances. When there is no attachment or clinging, the wise should know the method of grasping. This is the characteristic of habituation in secret mantra. Thus it is said. Second, the specific signs and measures of immovable samadhi are twofold: briefly indicating the practice of the three samadhis, and explaining the specific signs and measures of each. The first is that at the crucial point of space-awareness, the most precious thing is to extract from the framework of the three samadhis, from the "Six Spaces": I have three samadhis: with the samadhi of self-abiding, relaxed settling, one equally settles the reality of things. With the samadhi of a great falling rock, one reverses the clinging to self-abiding. With the samadhi of great expansion, one settles all appearances in their own place. Thus it is said. The actual practice of these is threefold: the body and speech are released in their own state, and awareness is not lost on objects, but relaxes naturally, this is the samadhi of great relaxation; when the three doors are placed in their natural state, awareness recognizes itself as naked and clear, this is the samadhi of a great falling rock; viewing objects as illusory and knowing awareness as empty and luminous, one practices the yoga of the four times of day and night in the meaning of space-awareness, this is the samadhi of great expansion. From that same tantra: Thus train in the three samadhis, the samadhi of self-abiding relaxation, does not block the doors of the senses,
