are demons. If you are attached to the taste of samadhi, it is the inner demon. If you are attached to the realm of appearances, it is the demon of appearances. If you doubt whether it is real or not, it is the demon of conceptual thought. If you are carried away by actions, it is the demon of samsara. If conceptual thought enters the mind, it is the demon of the mind. If you are attached to the objects of grasping and the grasped Dharma, it is the demon of the mind. If you are attached to the retinue of enjoyment, it is the demon of distraction. If you are attached to the Dharma of samsara, it is the demon of the aggregates. If you are attached to the swamp of disputes, it is the demon of afflictions. If you are attached to friends of joy and sorrow, it is the demon of the gods. If you are angry and fierce, brave and arrogant, it is the demon of the Lord of Death. If you are attached to the deity you meditate on, it is the demon of bondage. If you are attached to the five attachments and aversions, it is the demon of the lower realms. If you are attached to the ten virtuous actions, it is the demon of the place of birth. If you are attached to the path of samsara, it is the demon of ignorance. If you have a greedy mind towards objects, it is the demon of attachment. If you abandon the slander of the Dharma, it is the demon of jealousy. If you belittle others, it is the demon of arrogance. If you abandon others, it is the demon of faults. Likewise, the deception of demons is inconceivable. Although words cannot exhaust them, and they are numerous, if the four root demons are destroyed, the demons will not find an opportunity. The distinctions of demons are considered in this way. Therefore, conceptual thought is the demon of samsara, non-existent, empty, and cannot be grasped. Demons are also realized in their own nature. In the appearance of great wisdom, there is no demon, and there is nothing to be done as a demon. Only self-born awareness. Apart from that, there are no demons. Look at the demon itself in your own awareness. By realizing it, all the demons, naturally disappear and are naturally destroyed. Before I existed, there was not even the name of a demon. The demon itself arises from me, so the thing called demon does not exist elsewhere. Those who cling to conceptual thought as self are the great root of demons. If I am realized, all the demons will awaken. All the demons who cling to conceptual thought, through skillful means, subside in me. Therefore, all the demons of conceptual thought, from the beginning, do not exist and are pure from the beginning. Demons are the play of wisdom, arising from me and deluded from me. Therefore, it is my illusion. My play is inconceivable. My illusion is not difficult. Everything is my play. Thus it is said. Now, to thoroughly cleanse the Dharmata, the space of Bodhicitta: Whatever arises from appearances, sounds, sights, and the six consciousnesses, all are in the self-luminous, undifferentiated space, the primordially liberated, equal space.

Practice in emptiness! Thus he advised. External appearances, such as forms and the five objects, and internal consciousness, whether affirming or denying, all that arises does not go beyond the play and display of self-originated wisdom. Therefore, in the empty image of non-existence, practice in the state of awareness; awareness, which is self-originated wisdom, practice in transparency, exhaustion of phenomena, and namelessness. It is not an object of thought and expression. As it is said in the Lion's Perfect Power: I am free from the word of emptiness. I have no darkness of dharma. I am the great light of self-appearance. I have no cause for appearance. I am clear as the five symbolic bodies. I have no dharma of action. I am primordially free from birth. I have no demon to enter. I am free from various causes. I have no limit of thought. I am free from the dharma of yes and no. I have no word of characteristics. I am free from the side of annihilation. I have no object of things. I am free from the extreme of permanence. I have no thought of grasping. I have transcended the boundary of annihilation. Because I have no memory, I am liberated from the dharma of suffering in samsara. Because I have no dualistic appearance, I am free from both virtue and vice. Because I have no partiality, I am free from the deluded mind. Because I have no dharma of action, I am spontaneously accomplished. So it is said. The definitions of space, ground, expanse, and mind, in general, are: Because all appearances arise from one equality, it is space. Because it generates all qualities, it is ground. Because all is self-originated and without distinction, it is expanse. Because all arises as essence, it is bodhicitta. Know it to be primordially pure like space. Awareness, emptiness, and equality, from the aspect of abiding as the basis of all appearances, are called space. Because it shows the appearance of spontaneously accomplished qualities, it is called ground. Because it has become the essence of all, it is called bodhicitta. These are actually without difference, like space. I, self-originated wisdom, am the essence of all dharmas. Its definition is as it is said in the All-Creating King: I am called essence, the essence of all dharmas. Self-originated is called action, the essence without cause and condition, which is beyond all effort and practice. Wisdom is called action, because it is unobstructed and unclouded, it reveals all dharmas without exception. I am called bodhicitta, the action of primordially.
